[close] A place to discuss all the unique aspects of Deaf culture as highlighted in the thriller Silent Fear (A novel inspired by true crimes) by Lance & James Morcan. This group can also be an intersection of sorts where Deaf and hearing people can engage and learn from each other.

[close] We read, in my experience, and read a whole lot. Not cozy or charming either. We read the" lists" and we were looking for a kind of sophistication that defined that generation. Someone was always reading something "important". Brave New World, Fahrenheit 451, Portnoy's Complaint, Everything You Wanted to Know About Sex; sci-fi (things that are now almost happening), politics - especially post-WW2. We dropped author names and spent our extra money on paperbacks. The word "banned"or adult was a lure. French authors were very daring and we cared for the book before it ever became a movie. I read all of James Baldwin, Ferlinghetti, Heinlein. I read Lord of the Rings in 1965. All of it. The Tin Drum. And all of Sherlock Holmes and truncated versions from BOMC that my father ordered. Leon Uris, Clockwork Orange - if this is cluttered it is how we read then. If you are one of those 60's high school readers - here's a new way to meet others who did the same.

[close] If you are searching for a bookclub that has regular new monthly reads and active conversation about current reads, favourite reads, best and worst written characters - than this is the bookclub for you! It is hoped that every month we will be reading two new books and at the end of each month we will have discussions around each book. How will this work? Every month two new books are introduced. This is gives you the opportunity to either (a) read both or (b) read one and not the other (giving you more flexibility)! At the end of each month new discussion forums will be created for each book, where you can engage in conversation around the book (prompts will be provided). If you have any recommendations for adult contemporary books (which are highly encouraged and welcome!), there is a place below for these ideas!

Sometimes we take a specific theme or genre like Sherlock Holmes, instead of an author, or authors, like the Brontës.
