Jarrett J. Krosoczka, known since boyhood as "JJK," is the New York Times bestselling author/illustrator behind more than forty books for young readers, including his wildly popular Lunch Lady graphic novels, select volumes of the Star Wars™: Jedi Academy series, and Hey, Kiddo, which was a National Book Award Finalist. If I go for a walk or take on a mundane task—like doing the dishes—I find that my creativity can flow again once my mind can wander. But I also have to be patient because it could take weeks or months before I know where to take a story. (less)

Help Me Get to Title One Schools

As a frequent presenter at schools and libraries, I know how impactful these author visits can be for young authors and artists. As a provider for a family of five, I wish that I could forgo my fee every time I get an invite. But what I can do is discount and subsidize those visits with the help of my bookish friends. Be it an in-person or virtual author visit, I will donate sets of my books

Mary I read Punk Farm to a group of preschoolers today. At the last page, I asked them why they thought the animals were sleeping. One boy, who had been playing a particularly energetic air guitar while I was "singing" Old MacDonald, piped up with: "Because they rocked hard." Yes, indeed, they rocked hard.
