I... I don't know what I expected but it wasn't this.
This book has made its rounds through the internet and has even been featured outside of the book community. I discovered it via Amanda's video which I really enjoyed.
I don't have much to add to be quite honest.
I think this book was meant to be satire (I hope it was, at least) as this author released other books with similarly ridiculous titles. (See Penetrated by the President's Twitter Feed)
All in all, this book was odd, mildly funny, and only slightly worth the 99c I paid for it.
This was free on Amazon which is why I chose to read it. Although it wasn't bad, it wasn't good either. It was just... okay and a tad odd.

There was a decent semblance of a plot although I would estimate that the book is 50% (or more) sex scenes. Although I did skim so it's possible I got lucky and happened to stumble on mostly sex scenes. Who knows.
But my favorite line is the following:
"She'd become horny.
Like... what? That is such odd but hilarious phrasing. What a strange way to say someone is horny. I don't know why but that line was just so entertaining to me.
Overall, this was a steamy freebie with a decent plot and a very odd line.

This started out well enough. It was very intriguing and mildly spooky but it got tiresome the further I got into it.
I had been going strong with the book... I read a solid 8 hours of the audiobook but that was over the weekend and when I paused, I completely lost motivation. I tried to restart it multiple times but I just couldn't get hooked.
I skipped to the end and was still bored so I gave up. This book was just not for me which sucks because so many people loved it. Oh well. Better luck next time.

So, what's this book about?
For exactly one season, Lady Charlotte Wentworth played the biddable female the ton expected―and all it got her was society's mockery and derision. Now she's determined to be in charge of her own future. So when an unwanted suitor tries to manipulate her into an engagement, she has a plan. He can't claim to be her fiancé if she's engaged to someone else. Even if it means asking for help from the last man she would ever marry.
Ethan, Lord Amesbury, made a lot of mistakes, but the one he regrets the most is ruining Lady Charlotte's reputation. He's older and wiser now, but his attraction to Lottie never wavered. Going along with her charade is the least he can do to clean the slate and perhaps earn her forgiveness. And, if he's lucky, her love.
To be completely honest, I didn't totally pay attention to the plot. I mean I did but as of writing this review, it has completely left my brain.
I was also distracted because this book was surprisingly steamy. It was also quite... gory? I'm sure there's a word for sexual goriness but I can't be bothered to google it.
Overall, this was a steamy novel that I can't really remember much of.

"Truth is a human right."
Reading this book felt like a fever dream, to be completely honest.
So, what's this book about? It’s fall 2007. A well-timed leak has revealed that the US government might have engaged in first contact. Cora Sabino is doing everything she can to avoid the whole mess, since the force driving the controversy is her whistleblower father. Even though Cora hasn’t spoken to him in years, his celebrity has caught the attention of the press, the Internet, the paparazzi, and the government—and with him in hiding, that attention is on her. She neither knows nor cares whether her father’s leaks are a hoax, and wants nothing to do with him—until she learns just how deeply entrenched her family is in the cover-up, and that an extraterrestrial presence has been on Earth for decades.
Realizing the extent to which both she and the public have been lied to, she sets out to gather as much information as she can, and finds that the best way for her to uncover the truth is not as a whistleblower, but as an intermediary. The alien presence has been completely uncommunicative until she convinces one of them that she can act as their interpreter, becoming the first and only human vessel of communication. Their otherworldly connection will change everything she thought she knew about being human—and could unleash a force more sinister than she ever imagined.
This book was like if E.T. and Alien had a baby and that baby started taking drugs. I really, really enjoyed this book. It was so fascinating and strangely comforting.
As I do with a few books I read, I completely immersed myself in the main characters, Cora. Sometimes, it happens with some books. I am not watching the character. I am the character. Anywho, Cora and I were in it for the long haul.
When things started to happen and Cora was basically on the run from the government and an alien, I felt her fear and curiosity. When she was kidnapped by the alien and pulled into a strange adventure, I was hooked. I was fascinated and couldn't wait to see what happened next.
Now, let me take a second to talk about Ampersand. He is one of my favorite alien/fantastic characters I've read in a while. He's like a morally gray Aslan. He was so cute and innocent but also dark and brooding all at the same time. I loved him and I cannot wait to see more of him.
Overall, this book was... very strange but I really enjoyed it and I am really looking forward to the sequel.

The Marriage Game started off... okay. It felt kind of cheesy and I wasn't totally attached to any of the characters.
But then... in walked one of the most annoying, toxic love interests I've ever seen. Sam was so irritating and rude.
It felt like the author was trying to write a bad-boy, misunderstood male character but it did not work at all.
He was possessive, unkind and had no empathy for anyone around him. And when the Big Misunderstanding part of the plot, it got so much worse. I don't want to spoil but that part made him completely irredeemable.
This book would have been 3 stars but Sam made it 2 stars.

I don't remember requesting this. I mean I obviously did but I don't remember it. Anywho, this was, like most smaller romance novels, a bit of an impulse read. The bookish equivalent of eating french fries from McDonald's.
Now, I do want to note that I was reading this on a day when my OCD was especially bad so that likely had an effect on how I took in this book.
I loved the theme of grief and losing a close friend/family member. Honestly, I don't feel I can comment on how well (or not) it was done because I was anxious/not paying complete attention.
Overall, this book was short and pretty sweet. Definitely check it out if you get a chance.

I had such a fun time reading this book. I grabbed it off my shelf and sat on the hammock in my backyard and read it. I got so lost in the story and just sat outside reading for hours.
The book itself was really good too. It was surprisingly steamy. I loved the more mature themes covered from grief to guilt and being a parent/guardian of a child.
Overall, this was a very mature, steamy and very sweet summer read that I highly recommend!

I haven't been this mad at a book since Toil & Trouble. And I'm angry. Not irritated. Not disappointed. I. am. forking. angry. Furious, in fact.
I want to start out by saying that, as always, this isn't a bash on the author. I'm sure she's a lovely person and she does have talent but in this... this ain't it.
As I've said before, I save the powerful 1 star for only the worst books. The only books that get one star from me are books that are not only unenjoyable but are also dangerous. (On the note of enjoyability, I didn't not enjoy this book. It was pretty well-paced and I liked the characters up for a little bit but then everything went awry.)
To be completely honest, I had so many issues with this book that I barely know where to begin. I do want to start by saying that there will in fact be MAJOR SPOILERS!!!! Do not continue if you don't want to be spoiled. Although, in my opinion, it doesn't matter because this book shouldn't be read but anyway... You've been warned.
➵ Kristen - Ah, Kristen. I wish I could say she was simply a I'm NoT lIkE oThEr GiRlS caricature but she had more depth than that. And that's not a good thing. From the first few pages, I was already pretty uncomfortable with Kristen. She shamelessly objectified Joshua and it was just brushed over. (I'll go more in-depth about it later)
Kristen was also so immature, selfish, and toxic. In case you don't know, Kristen has to get a procedure that will render her unable to have children. As she falls in love with Josh, a man who wants many children, she realizes that, even though she loves him and he loves her, she can't be with him because he wants many children (did I tell you he wants many children and she can't give him children?). But instead of telling Josh about her condition like any normal, functioning adult would, she continues to keep it a secret. She continues to admit to him that she has feelings for him but they can't be together and when he asks her why, she refuses to tell him BECAUSE THEN THEY WON'T BE TOGETHER.
Do you see the ridiculously flawed logic?
Kristen: I love you Josh: I love you Josh: Let's be together Kristen: No, we can't Josh: Why not? Kristen: I can't tell you Josh: Why not? Kristen: Because then we won't be together. Josh: But... your saying we won't ... be together anyway? Kristen: ... Josh: ...
Ugh it makes me so maddddddddddddddddd. Listen, I will not deny that having a condition like Kristen's is hard and it would definitely be hard to share but no matter how many time Josh asked her why and how many times he reassured her of his love, she didn't tell. She kept pulling the "I want you but I can't have you and you can't know why"
She was so ridiculously toxic and selfish. Josh deserves so much better.
Anyways, onto the next point.
➵ Infertility / Uterus struggles - Let me start by saying that, being male, I am in no way attempting to comment or understand what it is like to menstruate, bleed, or have other uterus related problems. I am however very well versed in plots, characters, and general bookish bullsh*t.
I was really looking forward to this overall theme. Romance novels very rarely acknowledge periods, menstruation and the female reproductive system in general. And although the theme started out okay, it went downhill very quickly.
I already said how annoying Kristen was with her timing and secretiveness but you know that. My problem was that, in the end, Kristen gets magically pregnant. Like... excuse me. What? The whole point of this book was that Kristen would accept herself and her body and be content even if she couldn't naturally get pregnant but nope. She gets magically pregnant because Josh's sperm is oh so strong. (no joke. there's an entire scene where Kristen and Josh are laughing about how the doctor said his sperm is perfect.)
Even the author seems to have sensed that something was wrong about that because in the author's note she said:
"Kristen's happy ending was never about getting pregnant. It was about her allowing herself to be loved, despite what she felt were shortcomings. It was about her recognizing that she wasn't defined by her ability to have children, and that her worth went beyond the state of her uterus. That was her happily ever after.
Okay, there's so much wrong with this statement. First of all, if her happy ending wasn't about her getting pregant, THEN WHY DID SHE GET PREGNANT? What's the point? The readers out there that do struggle with fertility and finally felt like the found a character like them are just gonna feel smacked in the face when even the character who has tumors in her uterus got pregnant. Like, why? WHY did you feel that was necessary.
Second, she never did "realize her worth". Even up to the last freaking page, she was just like "wow, I can't believe Josh loves me. He's dumb. I guess I'll just enjoy it until he realizes how worthless I am and leaves me."
Listen, I understand that everyone has issues with self-worth. I do. You do. Everyone does. But the fact that Kristen's toxic, insecure behavior is supposed to be thought of as a happy ending and that nothing about her needs to be changed or worked on is dangerous.
➵ Objectification - This'll be a shorter point. From the first page, there was shameless objectification. Coming from to both genders from both genders. I got the vibe that it was meant to be "haha, she's so honest and quirky lol"
No. It's obviously okay to think someone's hot and it's okay to say so without treating someone like an object but objectification is not okay and it made me uncomfortable. There was a running joke where Josh and Kristen were literally saying "Ha, you should go have sex with that sexy yoga instructor." I just. Ugh
➵ Brandon - Okay, I warned you earlier but I'm going to warn you again. HUGE SPOILER.
Okay, so towards the end Brandon, Sloan's (Kristen's BFF) fiance dies. This plot point didn't make me sad. It made me mad. This was actually the straw that broke the camels back. I literally threw up my hands and said That's it. I give up. This book is awful.
Brandon's death was only there to move the plot forward. And the only reason the plot needed that shove was because, in my opinion, the author had written herself into a corner. Kristen was so. forking. stubborn. that she literally needed someone to die to realize that she was being way to frickin stubborn.
Ugh. To quote Fran's awesome review, Josh deserved better. Brandon deserved better. Sloan deserved better. All of them suffered because Kristen is the worst.
➵ OCD - The representation of OCD in this book was so disappointingly stereotypical and was completely brushed over. I don't have much to say other than I felt almost made fun because of the way OCD was shown.

much spook. very mystery.
that's it. that's my initial reaction. time for synopsis
So, what's this book about? You knew a teenager like Charlie Crabtree. A dark imagination, a sinister smile--always on the outside of the group. Some part of you suspected he might be capable of doing something awful. Twenty-five years ago, Crabtree did just that, committing a murder so shocking that it’s attracted that strange kind of infamy that only exists on the darkest corners of the internet--and inspired more than one copycat.
Paul Adams remembers the case all too well: Crabtree--and his victim--were Paul’s friends. Paul has slowly put his life back together. But now his mother, old and senile, has taken a turn for the worse. Though every inch of him resists, it is time to come home.
It's not long before things start to go wrong. Reading the news, Paul learns another copycat has struck. His mother is distressed, insistent that there's something in the house. And someone is following him. Which reminds him of the most unsettling thing about that awful day twenty-five years ago.
It wasn't just the murder.
It was the fact that afterward, Charlie Crabtree was never seen again...
I honestly don't have much to say about this book. I don't have super strong feelings about it. It was enjoyable. It was fascinating... And that's just about it. There wasn't anything ridiculously terrible or superbly amazing. It was just so so.
I do want to say that be very, very careful if you want to lucid dream. Do a lot of research first and be aware of the potential negative effects.
Overall, this book was quite spoopy and enjoyable but nothing to write home about.
