...more

...more

While the story at times was a bit confusing, we go back and forth in time. We start at the break up and see what caused that bit by bit as the story moves on, but we also are in the now where these two guys are still figuring out if they want to give it another shot (or if it is just fuckbuddy time). At times I thought we were in x time but we were in y time. Eventually it worked better for me, but yeah, in the beginning especially it was just a bit too confusing and I had to push myself to keep reading.
I did like the idea of starting at the break-up and going from there. I could definitely understand Naruse and why he was done with it all. He loves Toui, but Toui just seems to forget Naruse is around when a novel needs to be written. He skips meals. Disappears for weeks. Doesn’t say love yous and all that. I would have also just chosen for myself at a point. OK, it took 4 years, and as we can see they just cannot leave each other, which made me both sad (because do you want to go back into this relationship) and happy (maybe there are ways to save this). I liked that we got to see things from both angles. Not just Naruse and why he stopped, but also why he keeps coming back. But also Toui. That guy really has no clue, which both made me shake my head and laugh. Oh man. You really need to open your eyes.
There are some sex scenes in the book and I wasn’t always a fan of them. I mean, it was mostly just make-up sex and at times it felt a bit forced. Like Naruse was not there for THAT and Toui just did things to him.
I am happy with the ending though and it is one I can stand behind. Though I do hope that Toui really has learned and will keep up with things. Naruse deserves a happy relationship.
The art was, as expected because cocomi, pretty and I love the style! Just look at that cover, isn’t that perfect?
All in all, despite some issues, I am happy with this manga and I had fun reading it.

OMG, the start was a bit rough (some scenes felt a bit random), but I can just tell you that I LOVE this one so much. Before I start with my review I would like to state trigger warnings for sexual assault (several pages) and incest (not that long).
I do love books featuring beta/alpha/omega, aka the omegaverse, so I was excited when I got the reviewer mail from TokyoPop and this was on it. I was curious how it was going to work, I have read a lot of good stuff, but also several iffy ones. I can say that after reading this that there were some issues (like the incest, the way Miyabi’s dad and brother treated him next to that, and then that sexual assault + him being harassed), but that there were also a lot of good parts.
I really loved our Alpha, Haruto. He is 100% an alpha as you can clearly see with how he walks through life, how people treat him with both fear, awe, and respect. But he is also a sweetheart. He knows that his alpha pheromones are messing with Miyabi who is an omega, but he tries his best to help him out. Plus, though he is also affected, he sticks his guns and never makes a bad move unless Miyabi agrees with it. And I was just loving it, because you can see that it isn’t always the easiest, but he manages. He tries to help Miyabi when things get hairy (or horny as it is his heat time). He cooks meals for him (thanks to his mom who gives him cooking lessons). Tries to find better medicines to suppress things better, gives him the opportunity of better doctors if that needs to be. He showers him with love and kindness and hugs. I just love that he never gave up on Miyabi, he really fought for him (later on even for reals). And I loved all he planned for Miyabi’s birthday!
Miyabi, oh, boy, I just wanted to give him a hug. I could understand that he was acting like such a smug bitch for several bits of the book. If the alternative is that people see you as an omega and thus treat you like shit? Not to mention, Miyabi has been through a lot of shit. I mean, his father disowned/kicked him out of his house. His brother sexually assaulted him (and probably not one time given how traumatised Miyabi is). I would also try to hide what I was in every possible way, and if being smug is the way? Go for it. I felt for Miyabi, I could understand why he did the things he did and how it took a long long time before he could trust Haruto. How even when showered with love he expected the worst. I loved seeing him get more comfortable around Haruto and see him grow more healthy, open up more to Haruto. And see him fall in love slowly bit by bit.
The love between these two? You are just rooting for these two to get in a relationship, seriously. They are just perfect together and I was just hoping that Miyabi would open some doors in his walls and let Haruto in. I was just squeeing all the way, especially the later parts when they plan dates and see each other more. And the latter parts where everything just clicked together? I was crying, cheering, YASSSsing all the way.
What I didn’t expect is, that the sex scenes were not censored. OK, the penises looked a bit odd at times, but for most there was no light bar or mist or whatever else manga and anime uses to not show certain things. I am so used to light bars that I was like, wait, that is a penis. XD
Oh, and this girl LOVES bonus scenes and extras at the end of stories so YAS!
The art was really pretty and I like the style.
All in all, even with some iffyness this was one manga that I am very glad I read! It was a ride for sure with a couple you want to root for. I am curious to see what is next for this couple!

I had my eyes on this collection for a bit, I got a review copy for N.S. Ford’s other collection Strange Belief (see review here) in October, and I really enjoyed it, so I was eagerly waiting for a new one, and this one promised ghosts, horror, and spooky things, and I just ADORE all of that. Plus, there is something special about short stories, authors really need to capture the scary essence in a short page count which isn’t always easy done. But I can tell you that N.S. Ford did it again. The stories here are perfectly rounded. You get enough information, there is tension and suspense and scary moments, and there is a great ending to each one.
Here is a short bit on each of the stories, I was adding star ratings to each, but then I found out that I would rate them all 4.5 stars. Haha. Yes, this was a consistent short story collection!
Hall of Hauntings: This is the first story and I really really enjoyed it! I mean, sign me up for reality shows, but add ghosts? Either real, or not, and I need it in my life. This was a short but very spooky story and I loved every bit. Especially since you are wondering if the ghosts are real.. or not. It got quite a bit scary and for a short story it was a ride! I wouldn’t mind seeing this one expanded even more. The Midnight Baker: Another banger! And well, also quite sad, because the history of the bakery and the people who lived there were quite sad. It got spooky when people bought the bakery, at first it seemed like everything would be fine.. but then things happened. I really liked this one! The Glowing Beauty: What if you move from house to house, often said to be haunted, and expect nothing of it this time round, but what if something is in the house with you? It started a bit slow, it was more sad than scary at points, but still one I really enjoyed reading. I loved that we found out more about the ghost and who it was and why they glow so much (believe me, it is not because they are so spooky). Oil and Sand: See and right here is why I am a bit hesitant about adding second-hand stuff and art to my walls, haha. This one was quite scary, not just because of the mummy/ghost that haunts our MC, but also because how far it will go to make itself noticed and won’t stop until things are done. I loved that it was tied to a painting and I loved learning why and how it was all tied together. I didn’t know they used THAT for paint! OH NO. The Last Librarian: Another story that I would die to get a longer version of. For now it is fine as a short one, it really does it job at showing us the despair, giving us a glimpse at this world that has fallen and what lurks outside. It was really a good story and I was constantly on alert. I loved that it took place at a library! A Haunting Melody: Another story and yet another one why I wouldn’t want second-hand stuff that easily, haha, I just have read one too many horror stories in my life. This was a good one. It was both scary and sad. The ending was unexpected, but it was perfect as well.
And to answer the author’s question, yes, you scared me. Thank you so much! In regards to spooky things, the mummy story won! That was just terrifying.
I cannot wait to see what is next for the author, I know that I will be eagerly waiting for a new short story collection by N.S. Ford!

Plenty of Shounen ai/Yaoi or M/F romance, but not that much F/F. So I had to remedy that and here we are! What happens when you, in a drunken mood, order a household robot.. but instead get a sex robot who looks fully human and is 100% horny? Well, Akane is finding that out. I really enjoyed this manga and the sex scenes are well drawn and look good. I loved seeing Nadeshiko (the robot) and Akane get closer and closer and Nadeshiko do her best to make Akane feel good in more than sexual ways (though of course, the sex wins, always). They really are so cute and perfect together. I hope that in the next volume Akane goes Chobits on Nadeshiko and gets registered as Nadeshiko's master. OH, and the bonus at the end were fun. More info on Nadeshiko and her functions! ...more

In this one years-long pining is finally getting somewhere, haha. Seriously, Noah you should just have gone for it years ago! I loved how oblivious Noah was a times, I mean, Sage was pretty clear and giving all the signals, but I guess Noah's insecurity also played parts in how he saw things. I loved both of their dates, though Sage's was the best. So many hints and I was just hoping that Noah would pick up on them. Yes, you love Sage... but boy, he loves you. He has been loving you for ages but never got an answer so he went to date others. The story was really fun and I was just rooting for Noah to see that Sage really wanted him and that he should go for it. Love love an epilogue! YESSS! ...more
