I am so in love with this book! In fact, I love this book enough to listen to the audiobook just a few short months after reading it on my e-reader. I knew that I wanted to listen to this book since the audiobook production of the earlier books in the series was so well done but when the e-book came out months before the audiobook, I found myself reading it before I even knew what was happening. This is not a short book with the e-book having over 900 pages and the audiobook coming close to 27 hours. I can honestly say that I loved every single minute that I have spent experiencing this story.
Things were not looking good for Eric, Sylvie, and the gang at the close of the second book. I couldn't wait to see how everything would work out for them. This story was epic. I felt the characters' pain when they experience low points and their joy when things were looking up. I laughed when they joked around with each other and felt fear when they were faced with evils even worse than the zombies that surrounded them.
Luke Daniels and Therese Plummer did an amazing job with this audiobook. They really brought this story to life. I love the fact that Luke Daniels performed all of the male dialogue and Therese Plummer takes care of the female voices throughout the audiobook regardless of the point of view. I think that this style of narration makes the dialogue in the story feel a lot more realistic and the character voices stay consistent throughout the book. They are both fantastic narrators and I think that they bring a lot of emotion into their performances.
I highly recommend this story to others. This is a wonderful story filled with a lot of characters that are easy to fall in love with and a few that are fun to hate. I found this story to be exciting, heartbreaking, and hopeful often at the same time. I liked this book even more the second time around and plan to read it again and again in the future. I can't wait to read more from this talented author.
I received a copy of this audiobook from the author.
Initial Thoughts Yes, I already re-read a book that was just released at the end of September. Why? Because it is just that good! The story was fantastic and the narrators did an amazing job with the audiobook production. I liked it even more the second time through. This is a series that I plan to read many many times in the future....more
I have a lot of mixed feelings regarding this book. I have heard great things about this book and This review can also be found at Pure Textuality PR.
I have a lot of mixed feelings regarding this book. I have heard great things about this book and the description really appealed to me so I was excited to dive into this one. The book opens right in the middle of some rather heartbreaking zombie action and I was sure that I had made a good choice. There were some things that I absolutely loved about this book but there were other things that bothered me. It was a book that I didn’t want to put down even while I grew more annoyed with each page.
At the start of the book, Jenni is trying to get away from her husband and two young children who have recently become zombies. The imagery was very well done and I could envision those tiny toddler fingers reaching for his mother. Katie happens upon the scene in a truck and rescues Jenni. The pair has no idea what is going on or what they should do. They eventually head out of town and eventually meet other people who are just trying to survive as they are.
I thought that the zombie scenes were very well done. They were descriptive enough that I could picture everything quite well and I found them to be rather exciting. I thought that the confusion regarding the situation that some in the community seemed to have kept things really interesting and felt authentic. I liked the survival aspect of the story and enjoyed seeing the characters adapt to their changing environment.
I did have some pretty big issues with this book. I didn’t care for one of the main characters at all. I thought that Jenni was okay at the start of the book but as I read I disliked her more and more. I think that the book would have been a lot stronger without her and I have to admit that I kind of wished that she would be eaten by a zombie before everything was over. She wanted to be the only person to be close to Katie and had some rather unreasonable behaviors if Katie was in any danger. Jenni also seemed to be very focused on finding a new relationship when it seemed like she probably had a few other important things to think about.
I also had some major issues with the fact that Katie’s sexuality seemed to take over the story at times. Katie lost her wife, Lydia, at the start of the epidemic. She loved Lydia and thought that the way she mourned her was very well done. I just got so sick of all of the other characters talking about the fact that she is into women. She was doing all of these amazing things but the only thing anyone wanted to talk about was her sexuality when she just wanted to be left alone to mourn her wife. Katie’s sexuality does end up being a bit more complex which just added more unnecessary drama.
I am glad I read this one and do think a lot of readers will like it a bit more than I did. I found this to be a rather exciting zombie story with enough action to keep me turning the pages. I don’t think that I will be reading any further in the series because of the issues that I did have with the story.
Initial Thoughts I don't know how I want to rate this one...3 stars....4 stars...2 stars. I just don't know. There were some aspects of this book that I LOVED and there were other aspects of this book that annoyed me to no end. I liked one of the main characters at the start of the story but there were times during the book that I kind of hoped she would be eaten by a zombie. There were characters that I really liked a lot though. I loved the zombie action and the survival aspect of the story. I hated the fact that romance started to take over the plot before the book was over. I would have appreciated less talk about the characters' sexuality and more zombie action. I am glad I read it but I don't know that I will read any further in the series.

I just loved this book. I am really new to Cecy Robson's writing, having only listened to one other audiobook before starting this one. I loved the first book that I read from this author so I was really excited to get started with this one and I must say that it lived up to every one of my expectations. It was a really great story and the audiobook production took everything to the next level.
I knew from the very start that this was going to be a different kind of romance. The book opens with Callahan in the middle of a mission which was a bit of a surprise. It was a really quick scene but it gave me a whole lot of insight regarding the things that he had seen and the things that he had done. Trinity is spending one last summer working with her friends after college before heading off with the Peace Corps. Callahan is working as a bartender where her Trinity likes to hang out with her friends and there is no going back after their paths cross.
I loved Callahan from the very start. I must say that he was a bit of a grump at the start of the book but that just made me like him more. What can I say? I just love a grumpy Hero. Trinity was really perky and at the start of the book, I thought that she might be just a little bit too much but she quickly grew on me. I thought that both characters had a lot of depth and had been through a lot. I felt like these two belonged together. They had great chemistry and seemed to be exactly what the other needed.
I thought that Tara Langella and Lucas Webley did a phenomenal job with this audiobook. They put a whole lot into their performance and I enjoyed the fact that the audiobook was more dramatized than the average book. Tara Langella performed all of the female voices even when the chapter was being read from the males point of view and vice versa. I have only listened to a couple of audiobooks that use that format but I think that it is quite effective and helps the dialogue feel much more natural. There were also a few well-done sound effects added to the book. I thought that both narrators had voices that were easy to listen to for hours at a time.
I would recommend this audiobook to fans of contemporary romance. It was a great romance featuring two characters that I couldn't wait to see reach their happily ever after. The audiobook was a fantastic experience and I do recommend trying to listen to this one if you get the chance. I can't wait to read more from Cecy Robson.

I really liked this romance. This is the tenth book in the Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers series This review can also be found at Pure Textuality PR
I really liked this romance. This is the tenth book in the Sweet with Heat: Seaside Summers series but it works perfectly fine as a stand-alone. I have read just a few books in the series and had no trouble keeping up with this one. Addison Cole is the pen name that Melissa Foster uses for the sweeter versions of her books. Whispers at Seaside is the sweeter version of Seaside Whispers. Before trying an Addison Cole book, I had worried that it might feel overly tame and a little too PG for my tastes but there is still plenty of heat to be had in these stories even without detailed sex scenes.
This book is about Matt and Mira and I have to say that I really liked both of these characters right away. Matt is on sabbatical from his job as a professor at Princeton and wants to spend some of his time in Seaside with the bookkeeper that works for his father, Mira. Mira is a single mother to a bright little boy named Hegan. I loved how all three of these characters just seemed to fit together from the very start. Matt and Mira had excellent chemistry while Hegan and Matt bonded over several projects that Hegan proudly called “guy stuff”.
There really weren’t too many obstacles keeping these two apart. Matt’s time in Seaside is temporary but I felt like that was something that could be worked out from the start. I had a great time watching these three come together as a unit and I liked the fact that Mira’s son played such an important role in the story. Matt and Mira do get quite a few moments of time just to be together as adults and I thought that their connection felt very real.
Andi Arndt and Sebastian York are one of my favorite narrator pairs. I think that their voices really compliment each other well in this kind of audiobook and I was excited to see that they performed this book together. I thought that both narrators did a great job with all of the character voices and brought a lot of emotion and some heat to the story. I think that their talent really added to my overall enjoyment of the story.
I would recommend this book to others. I thought it was a really well-done romance with wonderful characters. I had such a good time watching these three make everything work and become a single unit. I plan to read more from Addison Cole very soon!

Initial Thoughts I really liked this romance. I thought that Matt and Mira were perfect together and Mira's son, Hegan, added a whole lot to the story. I thought that this was really good. I have enjoyed Jessica Jayne's work in the past so I was really excited to get started with this new book. This was a rather short listen that I was able to finish in just a couple of sessions. I ended up having a great time with this satisfying love story.
This romance has a rather unique set up. At the start of the story, we see Gracelynn lose her husband and Matt loses his brother. Gracelyn and Chad's marriage wasn't perfect but there were working on it and they did care about each other. Matt has spent his life in Chad's shadow. After his death, Matt has done everything that he can to help Gracelyn and the children cope with the loss.
On the one year anniversary of Chad's death, things change for Gracelyn and Matt and they realize that their feelings for each other have evolved into something more intense. They know that nobody would accept a relationship between them so they do their best not to let anything serious happen but they can't hide what they feel for each other.
I thought that Gracelyn and Matt were great together. These two had a ton of chemistry and there were quite a few scenes that were full of heat. I like that they have a long history together and that things have evolved over time. Gracelyn knew exactly what she wanted and wasn't afraid to let anyone know. Matt was such a good guy who seemed to really be trying to do what was in everyone's best interest.
I read a lot of romance and it seems to me that a lot of time the big obstacle that the couple needs to overcome really isn't all that big of a deal. This book was different because I really understood the obstacle that Gracelyn and Matt were facing. The steps that they took to keep everyone's feelings in mind while they navigated their new relationship seemed really authentic to me.
I thought that Joe Arden and Samantha Cooke did a great job with this audiobook. I think it was a really good choice to use a dual narrator format for this story and I thought that both of the narrators brought a lot of emotion into the story. I had no problem listening to this book for hours at a time.
I would recommend this romance to others. It was a quick read that felt very authentic and was full of emotions. I wouldn't hesitate to read more from Jessica Jayne in the future.

Initial Thoughts This was good. I wish that we would have seen more of them falling for each other during the year between the death of Gracelyn's husband and the big event. I had a good time with this book. I have been a fan of Linda Lael Miller's writing for a very long time. I don't think that I have picked any of her books up in years though and I am pretty sure that I have never actually reviewed any of her work. I have enjoyed quite a few books from the McKettrick series so I was excited to pick this one up during a recent readathon. It ended up being a really enjoyable read for me.
Clay McKettrick moves to a small Texas town to take on the role of marshal. He is immediately welcomed by the town but one little girl ends up making a really big impression on him. He quickly learns that the little girl is the daughter of Dara Rose. Dara Rose was married to the former marshal and has found herself widowed with two little girls to support and almost no money to do so. Now that there is a new lawman in town, she knows that she will have to give up her home so that he can have the house.
Clay and Dara Rose were both great characters. Clay really is a good guy that just wants to do a good job. Dara Rose has been through a whole lot and has proven that she is tough and resourceful. Dara Rose always puts her children first and refuses to take the easy way out. I thought that these two were great together and I loved how great Clay was with the girls. I thought that their relationship progressed at a really nice pace and I was really happy with how everything turned out.
I would recommend this book to fans of western historical romances. This book was filled with wonderful characters, a touch of humor, some Christmas charm, and some heartwarming moments. I really liked the fact that Linda Lael Miller worked some of less than pleasant issues from this time into the story including the plight of women and children without a male in the house and the impact of poverty. I definitely plan to read more from this wonderful author soon!
Initial Thoughts I had a good time with this one. I used to read Linda Lael Miller's books quite often but this is the first one that I have picked up in several years. I obviously have some catching up to do. I liked Clay, Dara Rose, and her girls a lot and thought that they all fit together perfectly. The plight of women who were left to fend for themselves and their children in this story was quite eye-opening.

I had a fantastic time with this cozy! I had heard some really good things about this book so when I noticed that my library had a copy of the audio available, I decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed. Once I started listening to this book, I didn't want to put it down.
Holly White has moved back home after her fiance decided to break things off just before the wedding. It works out that she is home just in time to help out during the busiest time of her at her parents' Christmas tree farm. When someone is murdered at the farm, things change quickly and everyone is a suspect. In order to get the farm open again, Holly decided to look into the murder herself and things get even more interesting.
I loved the characters in this book. Holly really felt real to me. She was smart and well-adjusted. I loved that she had a great relationship with her parents. Her parents were wonderful and I thought the way they wanted to protect Holly felt very authentic. Sheriff Evan Grey was great. I really appreciated the fact that he was a capable officer. He was calm and seemed to be able to handle just about anything. I really liked the relationship that developed between Holly and Evan over the course of the story.
I liked the fact that the mystery kept me guessing until the very end. There were quite a few possible suspects and a whole lot of people in town that had some kind of motive for the murder. There were several characters that I didn't completely trust. As new developments were discovered, I found myself trying to piece everything together but I couldn't figure out exactly what happened in this story until the big reveal was made.
This was the first time that I have listened to Allyson Ryan and I thought she did a wonderful job with this book. I found the voices that she used for the characters really added to the story. I thought that she did a great job of expressing the characters' emotions through her reading. I thought she had a very pleasant voice that was easy to listen to for hours at a time.
I would recommend this book to others. I thought that this was a very well done cozy mystery and would be the perfect choice for the holiday season. I am looking forward to reading more in this series very soon.
Initial Thoughts I had a fantastic time with this cozy. The characters in this book were wonderful and I loved seeing them interact at the Christmas tree farm. I was stumped by the mystery for most of the book but had a lot of fun mistrusting some of the possible culprits. I really enjoyed all of Sheriff Grey and Holly's scenes together and couldn't help but hope for something to develop between the two of them. The narrator did a great job with this one and really brought the story to life. I do hope to listen to more of this series.

It is only 1 hour 18 minutes long and takes the listener back in time to Sharon Washington's childhood when her family lived in the top floor of a library in New York City. I thought that this was very well done. I had heard some good things about Franklin Horton's writing and was in the mood for a post-apocalyptic story so I was thrilled to get the chance to listen to the first book in the Mad Mick series. This was a pretty quick read for me but I think that one of the things that made it feel like such a quick read was the fact that I didn't want to stop listening once I started. I was completely entertained by this story.
This book is set in a place where everyone is on their own after a terrorist attack takes down the United States. Conor and his daughter, Barb, are doing okay and can deal with most situations. That is until Barb is kidnapped by a group that uses women as slave labor among other things. Barb is outnumbered and must think of the other women in the group that were also taken. Barb knows that her dad will come for her and just tries to hold out until then.
I thought that the set up of this book was really well done. It was very clear who the bad guys were in this story but I liked that fact that we are given some background for them so that we can understand their motivation. Conor is a great character and I love the fact that he is willing to work in some grey areas when that is what is necessary. Barb was tough and smart and more than able to handle herself. I also thought that Ragus really stood out to me and I think that his character had the most growth over the course of the story. He was really the hero of the story in so many ways.
This was the first time that I have had the chance to Kevin Pierce's narration but I really enjoyed his work. I think that he did a fantastic job with a wide range of characters and I thought that the dialogue sounded quite natural. This was an exciting story and I thought that his presentation really added to the tone of the book. He has a very pleasant voice that was really easy to listen to for hours at a time.
I would recommend this series to others. I thought that this was an exciting book set in a world where surviving can be a struggle and neighbors can prove to be deadly. I can't wait to read more of Franklin Horton's work!

Initial Thoughts I thought that this was well done. The world has changed after terror attacks crippled the United States. There is no government and there are no rules. Most people are just trying to survive while others are brutally taking advantage of the situation. Conor, known as the Mad Mick, refuses to let any harm come to those he loves. Conor is like a one-man army and his focus is not only on protecting those under his protection but revenge on those who would cause them harm. I enjoyed this memoir. I sometimes wish that I would have gone into the medical field bThis review can also be found at Carole's Random Life in Books.
I enjoyed this memoir. I sometimes wish that I would have gone into the medical field but I was still queasy about blood and other bodily fluids as a young adult. Let's just say that I got over that queasiness and enjoy learning about medicine in all of its bloody glory. I found this to be a well done look at being a paramedic that I found entertaining and informative.
Paramedics have been around for as long I can remember. I remember watching Emergency! on TV as a child in the 1970's. We actually caught a few episodes of the show on television not that long ago and I was somewhat surprised by how different things worked for the first responders. For an outsider, gradual changes in a profession aren't really noticed but when you look back it is obvious how far you have come. When Roger Huder started his career as a paramedic, the profession was just beginning and the textbooks had yet to be written.
I found this to be a very thoughtful look at the years that Mr. Huder spent doing this vital job. I did enjoy some of the cases that he talked about that has stuck with him over the years even though many of them are heartbreaking. I felt his frustration in getting the cooperation that he needed from hospital staff and his supervisors during the early years. I was also amazed by some of the dangerous situations that he was put in without a lot of backup. I found the portions of the book where he talked about how his job impacted his home life to also be quite powerful.
This was the first time that I have had the chance to listen to Tom Jordan's narration. I think that he did a fantastic job with this book. He has a very pleasant speaking voice that was easy to listen to for hours at a time. I thought that he was able to bring a lot of emotion into the book and his delivery made the story entertaining. I wouldn't hesitate to listen to his work again in the future.
I would recommend this book to others. I found this to be a book that really stuck with me and made me appreciate all of the first responders that risk so much to help others. I am very glad that I made the decision to give this book a try.

Initial Thoughts I enjoyed this memoir. This is actually the second time I have read this kind of book this year. The first book was more on the gory side where this one was more thoughtful. I thought that this was really good. I decided to pick this one up because I was in the mood for a good mystery and I have been wanting to read Jeff Abbott's writing. Once I started reading this book, I was hooked. I wanted to know what had happened to these three Beths and I wanted to see their families find the answers they needed. This was a mystery that turned out to be quite the page-turner.
Mariah's mother has been gone a long time. Nobody has seen her and her body has not been found but Mariah knows that her mother would have never just left and despite with the community thinks, Mariah knows that her father couldn't have killed her. After Mariah sees who she thinks is her mother at the mall, she starts to do whatever she can to try to find out what actually happened. When she learns that another Beth went missing around the same time as her mother, she finds herself unraveling a mystery that is much larger than she could have expected.
I liked the characters in this book. Mariah and her father have both been through so much since her mother disappeared. The town is convinced that Mariah's father is responsible for Beth's disappearance so they are dealing with the unknown, their grief, and harassment from the community. I completely understood why Mariah felt the need to try to solve this mystery on her own because the police only seemed to be interested in looking at her father. I will say that some of the things that Mariah does during her quest to find out what happened to her mother made me cringe just a bit.
I thought that the mystery in this story was very well done. There were plenty of twists and turns that kept things interesting. The mystery was very complex with a lot of elements that started to fit together piece by piece as the book progressed. There were a few developments that I was able to predict but there were many surprises along the way. I was kind of surprised that the bulk of the story seemed to be focused on the second Beth but eventually everything came together.
I would recommend this book to others. I found the book to be a well-plotted and complex mystery filled with plenty of twists and turns to keep the pages turning. I hope to read more from Jeff Abbott soon!

I had a great time with this newest installment in the Murderbot Diaries series. After This review can also be found at Carole's Random Life in Books.
I had a great time with this newest installment in the Murderbot Diaries series. After reading the previous three installments in the series, I knew that I was going to have to read about Murderbot's further adventures just as soon as I could. This is a novella length piece that could easily be read in a single evening. I do think that this series is best read in order since this newest entry touched on things that happened in previous adventures quite often. This story was everything that I had hoped it would be.
Everything comes full circle in the series with Murderbot working to help Dr. Mensah who we met in the first installment. As soon as the SecUnit finds out that Dr. Mensah is in trouble, immediate plans are made to get close and offer assistance. Things are pretty tense at times and there is a whole lot of excitement that had me at the edge of my seat.
I loved seeing how much Murderbot has grown over the course of the series. There are feelings in this book. Real feelings. Everyone's favorite SecUnit seems to be having a whole lot of feelings for an anti-social cyborg. There is a lot more interaction with others that is done quite willingly and there are times with the SecUnit is willing to self-sacrifice if necessary. I love Murderbot's internal dialogue and really appreciated its sense of humor.
I would recommend this series to others. I think that this book had a great blend of excitement and action. I am so glad that I have had the chance to go along with Murderbot as it tries to find its place in the world. I will definitely be reading any future books in the series.
I borrowed a copy of this book from my local library.
Initial Thoughts Another fun adventure with Murderbot! Things have come full circle for Murderbot as the focus is on rescuing Dr. Mensah. The stakes are high and the risk to Murderbot is significant. The SecUnit has a bunch of feelings and isn't sure what to do with any of them. The story is once again filled with a wonderful sense of humor.
