I literally just finished the audiobook not five minutes ago. I'm sitting at my desk teary eyed. Though I've read and enjoyed some memoirs and self help books, they are not my thing. However since I first discovered Tab on social media I was drawn to her and her family's personalities. This was full of affirmations and confirmations. It was funny, inspiring, wise and hopeful. So many quotable phrases and things I want to go back to and highlight. (Fortunately I got the hardback too.) Tab is a light in this crazy social media obsessed world. She brings genuine kindness and common sense as well as spiritual wisdom to a space that needs it so much. I highly recommend this book. Happy reading!
If you are already a fan of Tab, it’s like sitting in her kitchen having a real conversation with your best friend. If you’re new to Tab, get ready to feel the love and inspiration.
I’ve been a fan of Tab since she had 2k followers. I can proudly say that I am one of her OGs!! It has been a joy watching her chase her dreams and so many coming to fruition for her. She is such a light on social media, and nowadays this is what I gravitate towards. I feel like we would be good friends IRL because we have so much in common!!
“It’s way too easy to get stuck nowadays. We are overwhelmed with information, but aren’t often given the chance to build our empathy muscles so we can Use that information wisely and to our benefit.”
This part really resonated with me because lack of empathy is so prevalent on social media. I’ve definitely put accounts on mute or just flat out unfollowed. At the end of the day you must protect your peace!!
“It’s so easy to be overwhelmed by the noise of the platforms on social media if we’re not careful. It’s also easy to allow that noise to turn you into something you’re not.”
This memoir was funny, relatable and inspiring. We must go after the things that light our soul up! We are the only ones that can accomplish goals we have and we need to be about that business!!
This was just okay. It was like talking to your successful Auntie who learned a lot of life lessons and wants an easier life for you. I appreciate what she was trying to do.
I was not aware of Miss Tabitha before reading this book.
This was heavily spiritual. I don't think there was a paragraph where God wasn't mentioned. I don't mind it so much, but this is just fair warning.
I'm not vegan, but some of the recipes shared in this book look delicious.
There was an entire chapter on how we should forgive people solely because they are our blood relatives on which I entirely disagree. Other than that, this was mostly what you would expect to hear from your loving, albeit slightly eccentric auntie who wants the best from you.
I ended up listening to this via audio (complementary from @harperaudio) & that was the BEST choice. I love Tabitha’s voice and hearing her advice.
I enjoyed hearing about her story and all the work she put into her goals. She talks about her setbacks and how she overcame them. She gives such great nuggets of wisdom.
If you’re looking for something to read to give you a bit of motivation, pick this one up.
Can’t rate this with stars cause it’s a memoir and that feels wrong.
America's mom had something to say and she said it! Her message rang through loud and clear. I listened to the audiobook over a period of months when I really needed a boost and it worked every time.
Tabitha's message is basically to acknowledge that your true self is enough and stop code-switching and doing the most. That’s the real method and real way to success. Success doesn’t happen overnight but if you keep working on it, you’ll get there. Her 5 million fans agree and usually numbers don't mean shit, but trust me those numbers mean something when it comes to Ms. Tabitha Brown. See for yourself.
I love her voice and if you pick up this book please please please listen to the audio, it might change your life! It’s beautiful and so encouraging. She shares important lessons around integrity. Lessons learned from a life lived, mistakes made, pain and joy experienced, people loved and lost including her mother. She shares with the listener what it feels like to have parents that care. That's not something everyone gets, and you can't take that experience for granted. She shares that in this book and I let some friends listen to it a few times and they spoke to it. It translates. Old and young can pick something up from this book. It’s a gorgeous book that you know comes straight from her heart. Pure as gold.
i’ve been watching tab’s videos for years and just like her tiktoks are a warm hug and a ray of sunshine, so is this book (especially in audiobook form where it feels like tab’s just talking to you 🥺)
her ability to impart advice and life lessons without sounding condescending or out of touch is a big skill, and while of course she frames her advice based on her own beliefs and values, she never shames her readers for feeling differently or not sharing in them (in particular her relationship with and beliefs pertaining to God, which is a major theme in the memoir)
there are bits i disagreed with, notably the section in which she states that she believes that when people die, regardless of how old or young, it means they’ve just fulfilled their purpose in life and “their work is done” but even when i disagreed, it never felt like tabitha was trying to convince me that her opinions were the end all be all and there was only one way to look at things.
she presents her ideas and life experiences and encourages us to learn from them, without ever belittling her audience. this, ultimately, is why i think tabitha is such a popular creator who draws in such a big audience with her delicious recipes and bright energy :”)
Tab!!!!!!! Very Good!!! If you need some inspiration in your life this will provide it!!!! Tabitha definitely turned her test into a testimony! If you follow her on social media then you know she’s always dropping valuable gems! Well this book was no different! It was like a warm hug from your granny! I absolutely love her journey! This was such a relatable experience she shared with us! I enjoyed this audiobook so much and Tabitha narrating was the icing on the cake! As a fellow plant based eater, I look forward to trying a few of the recipes she dropped! Definitely add this one to your list!!
This book was EVERYTHING! I could relate to her in some way in every single chapter. It was an audiobook so it was read by her and you could hear every emotion .. There were recipes throughout the whole book also so it made me feel like we were in her kitchen just talking instead of me reading her story. Great inspiration read .. I don't feel scared for my next steps in life BECAUSE IT'S MY BUSINESS BABY!
This Is A Beautifully Written Story....This is the type of book that we need in our library and every so often re-listen/re-read as a reminder of forgiveness, gratitude, happiness, joy, laughter & love. The truth of the matter is a lot of the lessons Tabitha talk about on her healing journey reaffirms the lessons most of us were taught growing up....But, it was simply beautiful listening to her narrate her journey to us....I really enjoyed this book!
I love Tabitha Brown!!! And she is from the South, like me!!!! I love her spirit and energy she gives off. I loved this book because, I felt like with every page I read, I could feel her pain, love, laughter, sorrow, sadness, anger, achievements and her growth. None of us are perfect nor should we pretend to be. I can't wait to try some of her recipes too!!! She has really opened my senses to do better everyday! I even listened to the audiobook because her voice is so soothing! I felt this book, deep in my soul! Thank you Tab for never giving up and posting what you are instructed to post. It is for someone. I would love to meet her! Such beauty from the inside out! Hope she writes another one soon.
I discovered this author recently while searching for minority vegetarian and vegan recipes. As someone who is not on social media, my knowledge was limited prior to reading this book. I am glad Mrs. Brown shared her story! I wish her well and hope she continues to uplift.
Let me wipe my tears long enough to write this review.
This book is amazing! It is so uplifting and there are so many wisdom nuggets included. It definitely caused me to remember that God is at work in my life, I just have to keep moving forward. Do the work, leave the negative mindset behind, press toward my dreams, and work while I wait, let some people go, press forward and things will work out.
Her mom’s prayer touched my heart. It was powerful, but because I lost my grandmother and aunt to ALS as well.
Do yourself a favor and get the audiobook. Auntie Tab does an amazing job reading it. I will definitely be buying a hard copy to have.
I read the audiobook. I just had to hear Tabitha tell her story the first time around. I own the physical copy and will read it again. Tabitha uses storytelling and real life experience to encourage the reader to take a chance on themselves. I felt enlightened, aware and encouraged. And the recipes! I’m not vegan but I want to try them all. Oh and don’t forget the TBAs. Read it or don’t…because it’s your business.
Whenever I see a new video posted by Tabitha Brown, and hear her open with these words, I smile- EVERY TIME. She is such a light.
From the introduction, this book is filled with gems. It’s separated into five parts, each titled after one of her catchphrases, and the chapters are short but impactful. There are also recipes sprinkled in, which are written as if you’re in the kitchen with her and she’s just talking to you about what she’s doing. And TSAs (Tabitha Service Announcements), which are like the videos she shares with a message you often needed to hear but maybe didn’t know it.
This is just an all around heart warming and inspiring book. If you’re familiar with Tabitha, this is everything you’d expect it to be.
Thank you, Partner @bibliolifestyle @williammorrowbooks for the gifted copy.
Gosh. I hate to give this book such a low rating, because I love Tabitha, but I just had to give up on reading it. Unfortunately, this book was very repetitive. I love her intention, but the life lessons she gave weren’t anything profound.
I think you’d probably have to be a general fan of Tabitha’s online presence to fully enjoy this book, which I am, because it’s very much written in the same styles as her videos. I was under the impression that this was going to be more of a memoir than anything else but it was largely a self-help book. It was still good, and she sprinkles in stories about her life, but in some spots it felt very repetitive in terms of what you were supposed to be taking away from it.
I listened to the audio edition, read by the author, which was a wonderful way to experience this book. I really appreciated Tabitha Brown's voice and delivery of her memoirs and learnings. Since I became interested in her as a vegan I wish that she had talked more about part of her life, but this book was more a collection of general life lessons and memories.
I love Tabitha Brown! I really enjoyed reading about the different experiences she has had in her life and her journey to stardom. There are some good lessons throughout the book, but they did get a bit repetitive.
Feeding the Soul is an inspirational nonfiction read that will uplift and dare you to keep dreaming. You can expect Tabitha Brown's bubbly personality to put a smile on your face the entire time that you are reading.
I am a fan of Tabitha's and I couldn't wait to read an early copy of the book! She bared her soul and her openness will connect with so many readers! She takes us on her life journey as she describes a bit of her childhood and how she always knew that she would be a popular figure that would do good.
I found it so refreshing and inspiring when she talks about her faith and belief in her true purpose in the world. Like so many of us, Tabitha has experienced lots of ups and downs but finds a way to keep her attitude right and look for the positive in every situation. Her experiences turned into lessons and that's her business.
For all the Tabitha fans out there, you will adore her using her famous catchphrases to teach us all the life lessons we need. She also includes some mouth-watering vegan recipes that I can't wait to try.
I give Feeding the Soul 5 stars. This book did just that. It fed my soul with so much love, faith, and positivity. Tabitha's conversational writing makes it feel like I was getting so much advice from my best friend. I am inspired to live out and chase my dreams, trust myself without letting doubts get in the way, and spread love because that's my business!
Honey, reading this book was like spending a sunny afternoon on a small-town North Carolina porch with a big sister or older cousin, sharing a tall pitcher of sweet tea and listening to lots of great wisdom. Because, like the author, I too am originally from NC, a lot of her childhood memories resonate with me, particularly the church and food memories.
This book is part memoir, part inspiration and self-help, and part vegan cookbook (with absolutely no measurements on purpose because, as Tabitha says, "use what you got, honey. That's your business...A squeeze [of this], a bit [of that]." LOL).
I enjoyed Tabitha's authenticity. Personally, I have followed Tabitha on Instagram for quite some time, so I was already familiar with her tell-it-like-it-is tone and her Southern-sweet, "bless-your-heart" style, both which are endearing assets to the authentic writing in this book.
Tabitha is my to-go when I need soothing and reassurance as well as when things are calm and strong. I find her gentle warmth and authentic loving ways to be a rare gift.
I chose to listen to this audiobook because Tabitha had noted that it included the voice of her mother. And I wanted hear Tabitha's read to me.
I had to listen in small doses because each chapter or message is profound and because she was vulnerable and open. And I wanted to take it in with time to digest and honor her story and insights. I trust her and I admire her easy approach to being.
As a fan of Tabitha Brown, fellow NC native and auntie in my head, I knew I would be in for a treat reading this one. And it did not disappoint. Within these pages, Tabitha Brown offers up so much wisdom, inspiration, and (sometimes tough) love, you can feel it all in your spirit. There were even times in my reading where I felt she just HAD to know me or my situation to be stepping on my toes so much. Now that's a gift! I believe this book found me at just the right time, and I'm thankful for Auntie Tab taking the time to share her story with us. It inspires me to share my truth with others as well, southern drawl and all.
Also, get the audiobook if you can. Hearing her voice is like having a nice visit with her on a cozy Saturday evening. I promise it's the warmest embrace you didn't know you needed.
But still, you need a physical copy, too. Trust me, because I have highlighted my poor book up like nobody's business. And you need those vegan recipes in your life, too.
-Thank you Auntie Tab!
(special thanks to the publisher for the gifted copy)
Exactly as uplifting and motivational as I expected. If you're down, read this book. If you're up, read this book. If you're lost, confused, or just simply want to read some positivity, read this book. I enjoyed every themed chapter with not just advice, but a relatable bit of Ms.Tab's life to understand where she gained that wisdom from. Her TSA's at the end of every chapter was my favorite. I'm glad I got the chance to get to know "Aunty Tab" a lil bit, and soak up some of her wisdom. I also think I read this whole book with her voice in my head lol (but that's my business.)
Tabitha is a ray of sunshine. She lives by the great attributes instilled in her by her parents and grandparents, and has seen the benefits. Even through the ebbs and flows of life, she is anchored in her upbringing and words of wisdom from loved ones. I’m glad she decided to share her unwavering faith, wisdom, and fearlessness with us. And recipes.
