The Reapers are the Angels (Reapers, #1)

I devoured this in a day, it's atmospheric, immersive and gruesome, written almost like a road novel/western. The writing is so good, and even with nary a quotation mark in sight, it flowed beautifully. The main character, 15 year old Temple, is ballsy and resilient (I'm not sure how she came by her rich vocabulary and sage observations on the human condition, but I enjoyed it so much I went with it), I loved her philosophy on life, that even in the most dire of circumstances, if you look hard enough there's always a smidgen of beauty to be found. If I had a problem it was with some of the world building, not sure that 25 years after an apocalyptic event, the power and water would still be on, gas pumps running and any food left at all in the shops, but hey ho I was so into it I didn't care too much. I was immersed in Temple's journey all the way, I heard what she heard and saw what she saw, so 4.5 stars rounded up, knocking ½ a star off for the somewhat dodgy world building.

Fine review Indie, and I remember the good flow of the story as you mentioned, and Temple of course. If I'm correct, the ending was a bit of a shock? Pretty sure this was one of the first books I found due to GR.

Thanks Ron ☺️, yes the ending was a shock for sure, somehow I wasn't expecting it.

Lovely review Indieflower, I was completely with her on her road trip through the hellscape. I never gave up on her.
