Evie has been lured into a madman’s Poison Princess locked me in a trance of mesmerizing awesome from the VERY first page. No… I’m absolutely serious.
Evie has been lured into a madman’s lair… And it’s utterly chilling to hear his horrific and terrifying inner monologues as he tricks Evie into sliding deeper into what promises to be her worst nightmare.
“My lair looks safe, warm, grandmotherly. It should; an old woman lived here before I slaughtered her and made it my home.”
*gasp* I know right?! The “price of entry” is that she has to recount her life before and after the Flash. He claims to be making a chronicle of events and experiences of events leading to the Flash and how people coped with the aftermath.
The Flash was a catastrophic event that killed most of the world and wiped any form of vegetation right off the map.
So as Evie launches into her tale, her story begins one week BEFORE the Flash and just after she was released from the mental institution. We meet the boyfriend… Who doesn’t impress me too much. We meet the BFF, Melissa…
“Mel was a hyperactive wild child who was a stranger to shame and had never acquainted herself with embarrassment.”
And we meet the band of Cajun misfits who have been thrust into suburban hell by a new bridge that put them in an entirely different school district. Jackson, the fiercest one of them all WON’T quit staring at her with his disarming grey eyes and devil may care attitude.
We meet Jackson. Who. Is. EPIC. Complete with the sexiest accent I’ve ever READ. Seriously, usually “accents” in books tend to irritate me- but Kresley Cole did an absolutely amazing job with the authenticity, with made it even more appealing!
I LOVE Evie and Javkson! There’s no insta-love… No triangles… They honestly don’t like each other very much! Except buried under all that hostility, is a SUPER cute romance!
They trek across country, searching for Evie’s grandmother and along the way they meet people from Evie’s visions… Members of the Major Arcana.
Evie was told long ago that she was the ‘Empress’ … Then they meet ‘The Moon’ in the form of a super hot chick who is seemingly MADE for Jackson! Then Matthew who has made the most appearances in Evie’s visions has put out a call for help, as he’s DROWNING and Evie, Jack & Selena (the moon) are a state away.
I KNOW.
Matthew is The Fool card of the Major Arcana, and seemingly Evie’s greatest friend and ally. They meet Finn, The Magican, while being held captive in a slaving camp.
I loved EVERY SECOND of this book! Poison Princess is utterly mesmerizing and fiercely captivating!! Without a doubt the BEST post apocalyptic book I’ve read ALL YEAR!...more
Chase, my favorite demon hunter EVER, is back in the second installment of the Protector series. He’s back and totally freaking blowing my mind with EChase, my favorite demon hunter EVER, is back in the second installment of the Protector series. He’s back and totally freaking blowing my mind with EPICNESS!
Chase suffers a tragic loss at the hand of Riley… his FATHER, at the end of Exiled (you must read it to find out what it is!). He’s learning to cope with his sadness and anger- trying to control his newly discovered elements. Being emotional isn’t so ideal when you have fire and water literally at your command and they are fueled by your emotions…
Chase and Rayna are searching for clues as to what Serephina’s Ring (first book… So I won’t go into details…) does and WHY The Circle, every Underworlder and Riley would do almost ANYTHING to get their hands on it.
“This is just a dream, Chase, but I can still kill you.”
Rayna’s half-demon/shifter side is running rampant this time around, and she refuses to seek help outside Marcus and Chase, believing if they can’t help her then she’s doomed. But the Hollowlights (werecat shifters) have other plans and come to persuade Rayna to let them help her. If you’ve read Exiled, you can imagine what she told them to do with THAT idea.
SO many things happen in Shift, families are brought together… battles are fought, alliances are formed, living rooms are set aflame, and the Visceratti don’t take kindly to their slimy, snake-like Princess being slain…
“You do the trials and die. Or you refuse and I kill you.”
Chase is a hero’s hero… I LOVE him. He is brave, selfless, sweet, sarcastic, funny, unsure of himself… and willing to FIGHT for what he believes in. FIGHT for those he loves. FIGHT for the freedom of people who would sooner spit on him than look at him. Shift is a story about honor, and KNOWING you can BE who you need to be, even if you feel like you can’t.
Shift is hilarious, witty and amazingly addictive. And the characters… I LOVE them!!! EVERY character, from secondary ones like Tiki and Vincent to Rai (the freaking bird!) all have especially unique characteristics that make them so much fun to read and impossible to forget!
And I do believe that Vincent and I were separated at birth. Just sayin. Yeah, he’s SORT OF, definitely not the a GOOD guy… but he’s not horrible either. He’s just so stuck up and snobby, but incredibly hilarious and a little bit terrifying. See? I do believe I just described myself perfectly!
“My god you should have that… condition looked at. Just hearing your voice makes me want to rip off my own ears… or your throat.” ~Vincent (you can clearly see why he’s my fav! I can just imagine the look of pure snooty disdain on his perfect vampiric face!)
Shift is an adventure like you’ve never experienced and has battle scenes so well choreographed you’ll read them twice. Shift takes a hold of you and does not let you go until the LAST WORD! M.R. Merrick left me breathless… and DYING for MORE!

Examples:
Don’t You (Forget About Me) Take Another Little Piece of My Heart Now Baby Send Me An Angel Shot Through The Heart, And You’re To Blame California Dreamin’ Somewhere Over The Rainbow
RIGHT?!?! Okay, okay…
THEN… The first page- YES, the FIRST PAGE, the author utilizes the word EPIC, and we all know how EPIC I deem this to be… AND makes references to Wesley and Buttercup, Harry and Sally and breaks out the 80′s theme music to boot! EPIC WIN!
Needless to say after this, I’m singing, “Our love is like a storybook story…” over and over in my head for about four hours and making my kids watch Princess Bride with me! Shhhhyea I did!
Anyway, moving ON-
“Love’s super-sneaky like that. It creeps up the second you turn your head to check how cute your butt looks in that new pair of jeans. The minute you’re distracted by SATs, or who kissed who at your best-friends Sweet Sixteen, or the fact that you didn’t get the lead in Into the Woods (I hate you, Maggie Elliot), and now you have to play Cinderella , when everyone knows it isn’t as good a part as the witch.”
I know right?! SQUEE hardcore! If you can’t tell by now Brie is walking us through the throes of her broken heart and doing it will making us laugh hysterically! This is one of those books that I literally wanted to copy down almost EVERY OTHER SENTENCE to use in my review…
“Falling in love is pretty much the same thing as being eaten alive by a grizzly bear.”
Brie was 15 when she LITERALLY died of a broken heart. *tears* even though some people blame the heart murmur she had since the day she was born- she knows different. Her heart was broken IN HALF by Jacob Fischer… Or Hottie McHotterson. *giggles*
Well, by the end the the first chapter I’ve got big, huge crocodile tears rolling down my face… Laughing insanely and crying intently in the same chapter? The FIRST chapter no less? Um yeah., definitely a sign of freaking EPICness.
And then I’m laughing and crying some more… And laughing WHILE crying!
“I’m not really sure what I expected the whole After Life thing to look like exactly, but I was pretty sure it would’ve had something to do with fluffy clouds and giant watersides and golden-doodle puppies and, like, galloping around on a black stallion all day, every day.
Not quite.”
The Catastrophic History of You and Me is PHENOMENAL!!!! Beautiful, tragic AND hilariously funny… You will not be able to put this book down. No, I’m completely serious. I stayed up all night (*ahem… on Christmas!) reading it!...more
Sloane had finally decided she'd had enough. Enough of being her father's punching bag, enough of feeling... nothing since Lily walked out of her lifeSloane had finally decided she'd had enough. Enough of being her father's punching bag, enough of feeling... nothing since Lily walked out of her life, she'd had enough of EVERYTHING. And the day she decided to end it all, also happened to be the day the dead got up and started FEEDING on the living.
Sloane and five other kids take shelter from the undead inside their high school. Sloane is patiently waiting for the dead the GET IN, so that she can escape the other survivor's and end her life- the way she had planned to before the world went to hell and back.
"Where's your family, Sloane?"
"Dead like yours?"
I have no idea if Rys's family is dead or not until I see how the question cuts him. He winces, but maybe he shouldn't have asked if he didn't want me to rip his chest wide open."
If I had to take a leap, I'd say This is Not a Test is more about a young girl trying to survive HERSELF, more than trying to live through the zombie apocalypse. Fighting inner demons, and breaking your heart along the way...
"I wonder if she hears him where she is now, if she hears his voice and his footsteps in her dreams... Or maybe the voice and the footsteps she hears are mine. I hope they are. I hope I'm the ghost that belongs to her.
I've never read a more emotionally jarring and absolutely soul crushing story than Sloane's from This is Not a Test.
"I'm standing on the edge of a cliff and it feels like my heart is missing."
Sloane is not your run of the mill heroine. She's severely broken and horrifically damaged. She's very detatched and unfeeling from the entire situation... Which I believe was the entire point... She is also BRAVE beyond compare. I'm still at a loss for words- two weeks later, so I'll just say:
Hands down-
This is Not a Test by Courtney Summers is the best book I've read all year.
This book was recommended to me by one of my bloggy BFF's, Missie @ The Unread Reader- and combined with the fact that it was written by Rhiannon FratThis book was recommended to me by one of my bloggy BFF's, Missie @ The Unread Reader- and combined with the fact that it was written by Rhiannon Frater, who as you all know, pretty much BLOWS my freaking mind with the expanse of her awesomeness. Needless to say, I was wicked excited to start Pretty When She Dies!
Tattooed, pierced, stiletto wearing Amaliya wakes up- BURIED IN THE GROUND. She's panicked and scared but manages to dig herself out... And all she knows is that she has to get home, and she's feeling a little bit insane at the moment!
After a bloody night spent 'feeding', the reality of what she has become is crystal clear. Her professor of psychology is actually a centuries old vampire known to most as 'The Summoner' for his ability to command the dead to do his will. I KNOW RIGHT?! So she does the only thing that she can think to do, she goes 'home'.
Amaliya's version of home is my version of hell- twice over. Her father is a mean SOB, who married her cousin- RIGHT AFTER her mother died of cancer. Her aunt is a toothless biotch, spat from bowels of Satan himself... As you can imagine, they weren't all that sympathetic to Amaliya's predicament and throw her out almost immediately after her arrival.
Amaliya is walking down the highway wondering how her life turned out like THIS- when Pete, (awwww... Pete!) an old friend, pulls up next to her and offers her a ride... *winks*
After a few hours of INTENSE, passionate lovemaking and him confessing his long-standing love for her... things start to go horribly astray when he flips on the light and finds that she has no reflection in the mirror!!! Yeah... OMG.
Making her way to Dallas to see her Grandmama (duuuuude, Grandmama is the highlight of my LIFE. Loved her!) she hitches a ride with a chick and quickly realizes it was NOT a good plan!
"Not even five minutes had passed and now she had to deal with a batshit crazy woman."
"It was freaking hard to be a poor ass Texan vampire."
I LOVED Amaliya. Seriously, she was rock your face off AWESOME! As were ALL the characters in Pretty When She Dies! After her very 'exciting' visit with Grandmama and cousin she heads to Austin hoping to find another vampire to understand her new life... since her creator is obviously going to be more trouble than anything else!
In Austin she meets Cian, who is engaged to the very HUMAN, very sweet, fun, and somewhat naive Samantha! Things start to get a tad out of control between Cian and Amaliya... and by 'out of control, I mean H-O-T. Yummy hot.
"She had woken up determined to learn what she could from him and then go off and find her own Rob Zombie lookalike. Or a young Ozzy Osbourne clone that would be nice. Or maybe both."
Sam realizes she losing Cian and goes to a lecture on the supernatural, which is being given by a freaking VAMPIRE HUNTER! And she opens her big mouth and tell Jeff EVERYTHING about Cian and Amaliya...
Roberto, Cian's right hand man, has grown tired of Amaliya's influence in Cian and his life and goes to DRASTIC measures to rid them of her presence!!!!
There is an EPIC fight between The Summoner, and those he created... and Amaliya finds she has a LOT more power than she originally thought! *SQUEE* I can't wait for you to find out what it is!! You'd never believe me if I told you who fights on their side, and who ends up betraying them in the end...
"Love and hate were not so different when passion was involved."~ Not telling you who says this!
Hands down, Pretty When She Dies is one of my FAVORITE reads of this year! Easily, one of the BEST vampire books I've ever read!
Love, betrayal, murder... Romantic, funny and horrific... Amazingly compelling characters and an intensely fantastic plot! Theses are things that only Rhiannon Frater could blend together and make something this EPIC. ...more
Chase is a demon hunter- without an elemental power. For this disgrace to his father's legacy, he was cast out of the 'protection' of the Circle with Chase is a demon hunter- without an elemental power. For this disgrace to his father's legacy, he was cast out of the 'protection' of the Circle with his mother to live among the humans.
However, the demons that roam our world seek Chase out without fail... OVER and OVER again... night after night... Let me explain quickly, a demon can be any creature of the Underworld: vamp, shifter, witch... etc. And there are only a few ways to kill said demons,
"Cut off his head or pierce his black heart- those were my options. I could light him on fire, but I was fresh out of matches." *grin* I loooove my Chase...
Chase is thoroughly (rather slowly... as he is slightly LOSING) figuring out HOW he wants to rid the world of this particular demon when out of nowhere, RAYNA comes up from behind and takes the kill shot before Chase has the chance!
Rayna... OMG! I TOTALLY freaking LOVE her! Seriously- from her green, shifter eyes to her wickedly hot witchy ways... She was EPIC! Ahem! Moving on...
After Rayna takes out the demon, she starts to lay the smack down on Chase! (Okay, my guy TOTALLY held his own... but Rayna let him HAVE IT!) It becomes clear to Chase as they're fighting, that she- HERSELF- is a demon.
Then someone calls Rayna off! Not just anyone either... A HUNTER! A powerful, air-elemental with the ability to manipulate the shadows. Beyond that, Marcus was also Chase's DAD'S old partner... who has been thought dead by the Hunters for years, when in reality he has been training demons!
This is unfathomable to Chase! Demons and Hunters can't be FRIENDS, and they certainly don't work together! But there is a lot that Chase doesn't know, not all Underworlder's are evil- and not all members of the Circle are good.
RIGHT? I know... and that's just the freaking BEGINNING! I totally looooved Chase and his thought process... and I had a WICKED crush on him! *giggles*
"There were a lot of problems with living in the slums. I could deal with the noisy neighbors. I could handle the random gunshots during the night, but the lack of water pressure was at the top of my list of complaints. This was clearly a sign my life wasn't normal."
Then Chase finds himself doing something that he thought he'd NEVER do... SAVING the life of a demon- from the very Hunter's he used to train with. He takes quite a beating from his former 'brothers', and Willy (the demon) takes him home and has his Gram (freaking AWESOMESAUCE old lady) heal him.
Upon returning home, his mother is FREAKING out because he's been gone for DAYS- healing... at the DEMON'S house. Marcus is there, and Chase finally agrees to help him and Rayna fight against the Hunter's, so they won't be able to procure this half-breed blood they're looking for.
"My can it be true? One day you're putting knives to my throat and calling me a filthy demon, and the next you're having sleepovers with an Underworlder?" ~Rayna
"What can I say, he was prettier than you." ~Chase
I absolutely REFUSE to give ANYTHING more away about the story... but i can assure you it just gets BIGGER & BETTER from there on... I know, it's hard to imagine right?
Now I must mention how much I completely adored the secondary characters in Exiled. They were just as detailed and descriptively written as any of the main characters!
Willy was freaking FABULOUS, Tiki completely ROCKED my face off and even the villainous characters were beautifully fantastic! The vividness in which I experienced the worlds that M.R. Merrick created within Exiled is too hard to put into words. Everything was perfectly executed, so that when I picked up this book- I was instantly transported from my couch, into Chase William's world so completely that I could have been standing next to him.
THIS is why I love indie books... Exiled is the PERFECT example of the EPICNESS that can exist in independent work and therefore so easily go unnoticed!
Part fantasy, part action/adventure, part YA and part romantic comedy without all the dramatics of a love triangle... there's not even kissing! (I'm hoping for some in SHIFT though) I'm kicking myself for having waited so long to read this book. Exiled was completely KNOCK YOUR SOCKS OFF AWESOME!
I LOVED Exiled. It was in all it's glory- A grand adventure, filled with guts, glory, mythical creatures, AMAZING story-telling and we mustn't forget... a golden torrent. And for all this and more, it is joining the ranks with only FOUR other books to ever have received a CROWNED REVIEW.
Oh my god... WOW! I had known that I had wanted to read Jenny Pox since Jenny, from Supernatural Snark reviewed it a couple of months ago. What I hadnOh my god... WOW! I had known that I had wanted to read Jenny Pox since Jenny, from Supernatural Snark reviewed it a couple of months ago. What I hadn't known was how much I was absolutely going to freaking LOVE it!
As book bloggers we go into every book we read, hoping to find the next "ONE". You know what I mean... The next "one" that makes you smile when you think about one of the characters, a book that moves you to tears, a book that causes you to spontaneously burst into laughter, a book that causes anger to burn deep inside... Basically: The NEXT the book that makes you FEEL real emotion.
Jenny Pox is THAT book.
I was utterly captivated by this book from the very beginning... We meet Jenny as a child of no more than four years old. You can immediately sense an undeniable sort of desperation about her, and then we're shown why. Yes, I CRIED... on page freaking THREE of this book.
Jenny can't touch ANYONE, for if she holds on for too long or bumps into someone and has too much skin on skin contact... they're dead. Jenny's touch brings to life severe pustules, boils, blisters... upon the other person or... animal.
After an incident in KINDERGARTEN when Ashleigh Goodling *cough*nasty little witch*cough* basically attacked Jenny on the playground and ended up getting gross, blistery things all over her body- and Ashleigh has affectionately called Jenny, "Jenny Pox" ever since.
Jenny has been an outcast after that fateful day.
Now, they are seniors in High School... which means Jenny is almost free of the constant sneers and general hatred thrown at her from the rest of her classmates. Since she can't risk accidentally touching someone, she figures it's best that the other kids avoid her anyway.
Everything changes the day Jenny's three-legged dog gets hit by a car and Seth (Ashleigh's perfect boyfriend) saves his life by simply laying his HANDS on him... oh and you know as an added bonus... regrows his MISSING leg!
Seth and Jenny start spending time together, and realize they might just be perfect for each other. They are so cute together that my heart was just BURSTING... Seriously.
"Will you keep me safe?" she whispered. -Jenny "I promise." -Seth "Then I'll go anywhere with you." -Jenny
I rarely get quite THIS attached to fictional characters... Jenny- I instantly want to hold and keep all the bad in the world away from her. Seth- *swoon*. Ashleigh- wouldn't have lasted a WEEK in my high school. I would've slapped the **** out of her.
Jenny can kill... Seth can heal... and Ashleigh can manipulate love... and you will NEVER in a million freaking years guess where this story will take you in the end.
J.L. Bryan is BRILLIANT. I adored every single second of this book, the ending was mind-blowing and phenomenal!!! I was completely blown away- I absolutely LOVED this book....more

Patch... Oh. My. God. *swoon* I was a puddle of 'Take me Patch I'm yours' by the end of the 15th page. He's dark, mysterious, broody and super sexy. Epic WIN.
I really liked Nora, she was sweet and naive. I freaking loved her best friend Vee, I mean like she's probably one of my favorite characters EVER.
"I'll break out in hives if I don't eat something salty within the next 45 seconds. And anyway the first three letters in the word diet should tell you what I want it to do." ~Vee
Alright, now I know a lot of people have a love/hate relationship with this series... or think Patch and Nora's relationship was 'abusive'. I didn't feel this way at all! I thought he was being protective and HOT. Yum.
I loved this book, I loved Patch, I loved Vee, I loved the ending and Nora was okay... ...more
OH. MY. GOD. Where do I start? From the very FIRST paragraph- I was hooked!
Jenni- with an 'i' is standing on her front porch staring at "tiny fingers"OH. MY. GOD. Where do I start? From the very FIRST paragraph- I was hooked!
Jenni- with an 'i' is standing on her front porch staring at "tiny fingers" trying to claw their way out from underneath the front door. Her terror IS MY terror from the very beginning, as she recounts the events of her family being transformed into flesh eating zombies before her very eyes.
Her abusive husband had come home the night before claiming that a homeless man had bitten him, slept on the couch and Jenni was awakened by the terrifying screams of her 3 year old son being eaten by his father. (Literally- I am almost trembling just remembering it.)
As Jenni is standing, paralyzed with fear and shock on her porch as her 12 year old 'now ZOMBIE' son is about to break through the window- Katie, a stranger in a beat-up white pick-up truck flies into her yard yelling for her to get in the truck.
Jenni barely makes it into the truck as her once precious son, whose last act was unknowingly sacrificing himself to his zombie father in his mother's place.
Amidst the chaos that has now claimed the United States, there are few places of sanctuary for the 'living'. After Katie and Jenni risk their lives and save Jenni's step-son, they make their way to Ashley Oaks (Um WIN... Fab choice in names!)
In Ashley Oaks... comes Travis (the name 'Travis' says it all doesn't it?) The picture of perfection- but which woman will he fall for? Killing zombies, going on rescue missions... in the midst of a Zombie Apocalypse is there even a chance for romance?
There is nowhere to go. There is no escape. The zombies are everywhere. The First Days is terrifyingly realistic and vividly horrifying, this book is feverish and electrifying- AMAZING in every sense of the word. ...more

Forbidden left me breathless. I honestlyLet me clarify UP FRONT... that 5 stars can't do this book justice. I need an EPIC rating... I'll think on it.
Forbidden left me breathless. I honestly can't give a better explanation to what I'm feeling right now... except that I am completely and utterly left breathless! Forbidden is just that- forbidden... or completely taboo.
I will admit to being more than a bit nervous when starting this book. I kept thinking,
"I must see what all the hype over this book is about... I mean really? A brother and sister falling in love? Ewwww! How can this resonate anything but disgust?"
Well, I'm here to tell you- I was wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong. Never ONCE was I even near to feeling disgusted by this book. I was shocked, horrified, speechless, devastated... But never by Loch and Maya's relationship.
Forbidden is told in Maya and Loch's POV, in alternating chapters. I think knowing what each of them were going through emotionally and physically was extremely important. I loved knowing what each of them were thinking about the same situation.
I find it difficult to portray exactly how this book touched my heart. Even if you read detailed review after detailed review of how utterly exceptional Forbidden is- you'll never completely believe it or understand how deeply amazing this book is until you've read it yourself.
As I could go on and on about how beautifully articulated this book is, it won't matter because I cannot form the words to coherently explain all that this book is.
This is immediately going on my FAVS list forever, and as soon as it comes out I intend to have a hard back copy sitting on my doorstep!...more
First- I have to mention some of the crazy fabulous chapter titles of this book!
Chapter 6- You Might Be A Zombie If... ChapterEpic awesomeness. Epic.
First- I have to mention some of the crazy fabulous chapter titles of this book!
Chapter 6- You Might Be A Zombie If... Chapter 10- The Proper Care and Feeding of Zombies Chapter 11- The Zombie Pledge Chapter 17- Jock Blocked Chapter 30- A Pimp Called Death
A Pimp Called Death? WIN. I mean really... It just doesn't get any more badass than that okay?
Maddy Swift is the epitome of freaking spectacular. She is delightfully witty and entertaining, she is filled to the brim with raw teenage appeal! I LOVED her.
There is one (try 900, but I'm trying NOT to overwhelm everyone) part that I have to mention because I absolutely reveled in this particular detail!
*possible minor spoiler* After Maddy gets taken to her Zombie initiation ceremony (YES! I swear... a ceremony!) Dane, Chloe and her are driving back to town and Dane is patiently explaining the difference between a Zombie and a Zerker (the bad Zombies- oh yes... there's a difference). Maddy makes a comment about vampires and Dane looks at her all nuts and says,
"Are you crazy? Vampires aren't real! That's pure fiction!"
I adore this! Usually in a paranormal type book, once you find out that one species of supernatural is real... then we find out that every myth we've ever heard is reality. Not so in Zombies Don't Cry- Another WIN, to make this book completely unique!
Let's talk about Stamp... He's the new guy in school, a jock, and super hot- and he totally has a thing for Maddy! He likes her pre-Zombie and post-Zombie crisis *Awwwww* There's one problem... Zombies can't date Normals. Hey! It's in the handbook and I didn't make the rules! Zombie Law #1 people. Learn it.
Oh my gosh, how I love Stamp! Is that totally creepy since he's like 17 and I'm 27? *tears* Stamp is just 'that guy' you know what I mean! He's yummy times 2, but also sweet and nice and uuuum totally built. When Maddy turns him down for the Fall Formal (ahem! Zombie Law #1 remember?) I thought I was going to die. DIE, I tell you! I'm thinking,
"Pick me! Pick me! I'll go with you Stamp!"
Pathetic? Entirely possibly. I'm okay with that.
I'm almost done, I SWEAR! One of my main 'issues' with zombie romance is the whole "I'm going to eat you alive." situation... HOW exactly does that say I love you? That's just ONE MORE thing that makes Fischer's ZDC absolute perfection to me. Maddy wasn't bitten and turned... she was struck by lightening and she's living on lamb brains- seasoned with thyme and garlic, smothered in soy sauce and chilled over ice!
By the end of the book I still loved Stamp... but I was totally Team Dane! Everyone MUST read this right now so we can chat about it!!!! ...more
Right away this book reminded me of Rachel Cohn & David Levithan's Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. Which is super fabulous because that is one of Right away this book reminded me of Rachel Cohn & David Levithan's Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. Which is super fabulous because that is one of my favorite books of ALL TIME!
Graffiti Moon is told in the alternating POV's of Lucy (best name ever!), Ed (Shadow), and Leo (Poet). Poet's chapters are written only as his poetry, which YES if it was extremely long, drawn out blah blah poetry would get quite annoying... but it's not! His poems are short, sweet and to the point.
To put it mildly- I LOVED Poet. I want to marry Poet and have 100 of his babies. Yeah, that much.I'm not sure why I connected so deeply with him... but he's mine and I'll lay the smack down on any chick who says different! Okay? ;)
Lucy is certain that if she could just find Shadow (Ed) that he is totally going to be the epitome of perfect guy. Sadly all she ever manages to come across is his graffiti... Then on the last day of Year 12 (senior year) she misses a Shadow sighting by mere minutes! I'm talking the paint is STILL wet! *tears*
She then proceeds to go meet her chick friends for a celebratory night out and in walks none other than Shadow! But Lucy doesn't know it's him!!! *breathe*
Lucy is daydreaming about what she'd say to Shadow the first time they meet, and conversations they'll have together... while she is unknowingly sitting RIGHT NEXT to him!!! *squee* Then comes the bomb burst...
Lucy and Shadow KNOW each other! Lucy may or may not have kind of broken his nose in Year 10 after he grabbed her butt!! *DIES* I love it! And so begins Lucy and Ed's (Shadow) whirlwind night of adventure after Ed agrees to 'help' Lucy find "Shadow".
EPIC AMAZING!
I only do this every once in awhile... but I have to share some of the awesome quotes from this book:
"I spent the weekend after our date wishing I could stab him with my fluffy duck pen and staring at the phone wishing he'd call." -Lucy
"It goes like that for a while, me running and leaping and falling and wondering how doing this proves I have balls." -Ed
"Every time he looked at me I felt like I'd touched my tongue to the tip of a battery." -Lucy on zing and tingle.
Ahem *cough*cough* Missie is SO not getting this one back! *sticks tongue out*
Okay fine! I've already sent it off to the next person on tour... and now I'm currently waiting my copy to get here all the way from Down Under! *tears*
Obviously, I freaking LOVED this book- hardcore. BUY this book!...more

This book is lauWhere, oh where do I begin? Married with Zombies is the book that initiated my infatuation with zombie books. Yes- it's that fabulous!
This book is laugh out loud funny... completely and absolutely hilarious! David and Sarah have all the problems of a regular marriage. They bicker, they argue over mundane things, they tease each other and all before/after/during bludgeoning any zombies in their midst.
