Cooking can be a lot of fun; add a little of this, change a bit of that, and before you know it, you have great tasting food. In Invent Your Recipe Italian, Thomas J. Papia introduces you to his concept: the idea that when you INVENT YOUR RECIPE, these Italian recipes simply become guidelines. The recipes offer the framework; you create the simple, great tasting food that you enjoy preparing and sharing.

My mom, who passed almost 3 years ago, would have loved this cookbook.
Her cookbooks were her novels. She would write in the margins if something would be a good substitute, and would add ingredients she had on hand to change the flavor. She was an excellent cook who was totally self-taught. No one ever left her table hungry. I wish I could gift this book to my mom! 😉 Thanks to the author and Goodreads for the digital copy.

I want to send my thanks to Thomas J. Papia, author and to Goodreads First Reads Giveaway for the eBook Kindle copy of Invent Your Recipe - Italian: 80 Italian-American Recipes Made Your Way that I won in the Giveaway.

I loved the concept of this cookbook with the notes highlighted to alternative ingredients. Both my husband and I have different food allergies so we often substitute or leave out the things we are allergic to and this cookbook gave us some good ideas for alternatives we had not considered before.

I loved the list of alternative ingredients in the back and the wonderful index. We have tried several recipe ideas and have loved the results and it has added variety to out menu.

Yummy in the tummy

My dinner for tonight was outstanding. The shrimp scampi received raves. Tomorrow I plan on trying the calamari. This book is loaded with great recipes. Thumbs up to the author/chef.
