Not a “marriage of convenience” story but a “marriage of necessity” — and no! Not that kind of necessity.

The characters are rich in this book. I’ll mention first the guy I would most like to kick in the backside and then wring his neck. Pastor Orton. Hiss!!! And you won’t like him either! A guy you will like, Major Henderson. The character I loved was Granny Taylor.

The story revolves around three people: Marybeth Kruger age 20, her little sister Carrie about 18 months old, and Edward Vogel, widower and husband of her best friend Janey who died in childbirth, a stillborn baby boy. Marybeth understands because her mother died birthing Carrie. Marybeth & Carrie’s father has just been buried. Edward and Klaus Kruger were good friends, and Klaus was a mentor to Edward.

Now Edward is her best friend. Marybeth’s father has just survived and *that* man, Pastor Orton thinks Carrie should be given to a childless couple. Edward is on Marybeth’s side when the (in my humble opinion) so-called pastor tries to intimidate her claiming the baby will starve, etc.

Edward receives a letter from his former commander, Major Henderson, who is the law in the new town of Cheyenne. He wants Edward to come West to be one of his deputies *but* he should be married. And so, this is how the “marriage of necessity” comes about.

The town of Cheyenne is just starting in this story. It’s the end of the railroad until winter passes and bored railroad workers are a rough crowd anytime. But when they aren’t laying track, boredom leads to violence of every kind. The couple starts life in a tent of all things despite winter. Edward and Henderson work the night shift which is the most dangerous since men get liquored up and have no common sense. Edward had a law enforcement background but found it was different in Cheyenne.

The reader will learn how a “railroad” town starts and becomes a law-abiding place to live. I’m sure the author researched a great deal before writing A Love Discovered. The story builds and grows as we see the couple grow to more than be “best friends”. And little Carrie delights in having other children to play with–something that is new to her.

Tracie Peterson is an excellent writer and prolific author. I felt compelled to come back to this book over and over again. I’d put it down and then find an excuse to pick up my Kindle again. The next two books in The Heart of Cheyenne series can be preordered. And yes, I highly recommend this book.

This was a sweet marriage of convenience story set in the old west town of Cheyenne. It was not without heartache and danger. Edward is encouraged by a Civil War friend to relocate to Cheyenne to help with law enforcement in the somewhat lawless boom town along the railroad. Marybeth is in a predicament when her father dies and the care of her two year old sister is questioned by so-called well meaning people. Edward and Marybeth agree to marry to help eachother but plan to keep their relationship as friends only.
Much hardship is shown of life in a town that is both growing and partly abandoned when the construction of the railroad moves west. The characters struggle with trusting God to order their steps, but godly wisdom is dispensed within this story.
A bright spot was the portrayal of two year old Carrie and her sweet, trusting nature.
This was a good start to a new series by a favorite author.

There are a few things that will automatically grab my attention and put a book on my TBR list. One is a friends-to-more scenario and another is marriage of convenience… and A Love Discovered by Tracie Peterson has friends who are in a marriage of convenience. Yes please!!

The heroine Marybeth is so lovely in spirit, and I loved spending time with her on the pages of this book. Despite the fact that we meet her on one of the worst days of her life and that she later faces harsh living conditions in Cheyenne, she remains gracious and displays an admirable inner strength and trust in God. Her 2-year-old sister Carrie not only has the best name (lol) but she’s also such a sweet little girl and instantly lovable. The scene where Marybeth is reading from the Psalms and teaches Carrie the verse that says, “What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee,” perfectly illustrates a childlike faith, and it’s one of my favorite moments between them.

Our hero Edward is one of the genuinely good guys in this story, and the way he steps in to provide for Marybeth and Carrie with an offer of ‘in name only’ marriage made him incredibly heroic in my eyes. Even if his stubborn refusal to risk losing another wife to childbirth eventually causes him – and Marybeth – unnecessary angst as their feelings for one another deepen past friendship, I don’t begrudge him those very human fears. I also thought the author portrayed his struggles quite authentically, including how he works through his feelings toward God and the moments (however briefly at first) that he lets his feelings for Marybeth slip past his carefully-fortified walls.

Bottom Line: A Love Discovered by Tracie Peterson begins her newest series with characters that readers will quickly embrace, including a fledgling little family born of need, based on friendship, and tested by life. We grieve with them over shared losses, we rejoice with them over God’s provision, we cringe with them over the harsh reality of life in Cheyenne, we wrestle with them over fears and frustrations, and we smile with them as love comes softly into their union. (And oh my word, I’ve never wanted so badly to purse whomp a fictional pastor – in fact I believe this is the first time lol – but he really needed it.) Edward and Marybeth are both layered and relatable protagonists whom I immediately liked, along with the friends they made in Cheyenne. I’m looking forward to reading Melody’s story next, and I’m curious as to which (or none) of the other females we met in book one will be the subject of book three. In short, A Love Discovered is a lovely reading choice for fans of Mary Connealy and Janette Oke!

I really enjoyed this one! I have a feeling this will be my second favorite Tracie Peterson series, second only to her Heart of the Frontier series (top favorite series of all time). The story follows Marybeth, a young woman who loses both of her parents and ends up becoming a caregiver to her younger sister Carrie, and a young man and friend named Edward, who tries to help the sisters through a marriage of convenience. In hopes to escape a tough situation, the three end up in a Wild West type of place, with all of its dangers and outlaws. For a good bit of the story, they're in survival mode, not only because of the rough people but also the environment and the rough living. I really enjoyed the setting and reading about the rough conditions they experienced, and how they managed.

I couldn't help but just love and admire both Marybeth and Edward. Their characters were well developed, and the dynamics between them made every interaction interesting to read. Although they marry early on, this is definitely not an instalove story. They face some really tough issues in their marriage. I loved how strong Marybeths faith was, as well as how she turned to God as her anchor through so many unknowns. And Edwards journey out of the darkness of his past towards God is one of such redemption. Really enjoyed this one and how richly faith based it was, and am already looking forward to the second book in the series.

Thank you to the author, the publisher, Bethany House, and NetGalley for a complimentary advanced copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are my own.

I was interested in reading, A Love Discovered,by Tracie Peterson, because of it’s historical fiction theme about America settlers moving out west in the 1800’s. I also knew it was a romance novel about an arranged marriage. This author writes Christian themed books.
The story was a nice escape into a world filled mostly with love and goodness. The story is sweet and predictable and that was fine with me. I did find that the ending left me a bit disappointed. I would have liked a little more closure to the story.

A Love Discovered, set in the late 1860s, launches the Heart of Cheyenne series. This book touches the heart and stirs the emotions with a sweet marriage of convenience love story fraught with struggles. The author’s fluent writing style and consummate storytelling skill creates the feeling of “being there” as you read. Strong, memorable characters jump off the pages and into your heart. The vividly, detailed sketched setting of the wild town of Cheyenne had me fearing the lawlessness and shivering in the cold! I greatly appreciate that the story is steeped in faith that adds depth to the historical romance. I love this story and can’t wait to return to Cheyenne! This book has my highest recommendation.

I love Marriage of Convenience stories and this one was amazing! Edward and Marybeth get married in order for Marybeth to keep custody of her baby sister after their father’s passing. Edward also needs a wife and family to get a job in law enforcement that is offered to him. However, the marriage must be in name only, he can’t risk losing another wife and child to childbirth. Edward’s late wife and Eloise were best friends so Edward and Eloise are friends as well. Of course, when love is discovered between them it’s hard to say no forever. I really loved this story! The characters are not awkward about being married they are just natural together and help one another. The author is so talented, and I just love her storytelling! The romance is great, and the Christian message is fantastic! I definitely recommend!

I was tickled to get to read this newest novel from Tracie Peterson as she begins a new series--this time in Cheyenne, Wyoming. the novel takes place when Cheyenne was just a railroad town a couple thousand.

Topics for this novel include death, fear, anger, forgiveness, mercy, and marriage of convenience. Marybeth and Edward decide that marriage is the best choice for them after the death of Marybeth's father leaves her sole caregiver for her two-yearold sister Carrie. Edward is still recovering from the death of his wife Janey (Marybeths best friend) in childbirth with their son--but he needs a wife before he goes accept a new job in the town of Cheyenne as a deputy. They decide that they will throw their furture's together in marriage of convenience--and that only. For Edward has also declared never again will he consumate a marriage to risk the loss of a wife in childbirth. Marybeth considers herself blessed that he rescued her from a situation and agrees.

The rest of the book shares their journey into the wild and untamed Cheyenne where vigilantes take care of justice, everyone carries a gun, the streets are wild, and the houses and families are few. Edward and Marybeth learn how to rely on each other through the good times and bad. To put aside their fears in order to trust in God. And to recognize that sometimes bad things happen to God's people and that doesn't mean God isn't good or still God. and that our anger towards God can prevent us from seeing teh love and beauty in front of us.

There isn't any big mystery or drama in this. More of just how do Marybeth and Edward get past their fears.

I liked Melody their neighbor very much and am hoping she gets the next book in the series.

4 stars.

Another series by Tracie Peterson! The Heart of Cheyenne begins with book one, A LOVE DISCOVERED. With this series we venture into the wilds of Wyoming with a widower, Edward Vogel and a young woman, Marybeth Krugel who is raising her sister. The two have been good friends for years but decide to marry—a marriage of “convenience”—so that Edward can accept a new job as a deputy in rough and tumble Cheyenne and Marybeth can stave off the “church” people who want to take Marybeth’s sister.

Living and applying the law in the new railroad town is much more challenging than either of the young couple could have imagined. Marybeth is a trouper, accustomed to hard work and innovation, she makes a home for the little family from tent to shed.

Edward finds adapting to the lawlessness and use of vigilantes like nothing he’s ever encountered. But they can’t go back.

Living together in such close proximity causes the warming of their hearts. But Edward doesn’t want a true marriage for fear of losing another wife to childbirth. But even in the most challenging of circumstances, the heart ultimately finds its way.

4.5 stars

Highly recommended for fans of Tracie Peterson, historical, wild west stories, romance, and faith messages.

I received an ARC for my honest review.

A fantastic book that was over way too soon! I say that because I couldn't put the book down. I read straight through the night laugh out loud. Peterson's stories do that to me.
I love reading about marriages of convenience and seeing how they turn out. This one was wonderful. All for the love of a sister/family. Love is a very strong weapon and throw God into well.....it could be a strong marriage. It's why I loved this story.
I have no fault with this one except one teeny tiny thing. I won't say what it is because I don't want to give it away.
All wonderful new characters but a couple I didn't really like. They were trouble makers. Yuck I don't like those kind of people.
A gentle reminder that I need to talk to God always even when trouble arises. Life's not easy and for this reason I loved Marybeth. She's special in my book.
I wanted to scream at Edward sometimes. He made me mad at him a lot!
All I all 5 stars for a well written story that flowed smoothly. I highly recommend!

A Love Discovered is a great romantic tale of two souls coming together in hardship. Marybeth has lost all her family, leaving her with no one but her baby sister to love. Edward, a widower, receives the chance to sheriff a growing town in Dakota territory. A marriage of convenience takes place and their journey begins. This first book in a new series by Tracie Peterson has it all: romance, action, adventure, faith. I especially loved how the two characters’ faith was displayed throughout the book and in every situation they went through. Their gentle and slow relationship towards love was also very beautiful! I highly recommend this book.

I have truly enjoyed most of the books by Tracie Peterson that I have read. She takes relatable situations and weaves them into the plots of her novels. Her historical novels are pretty accurate according to the mores of the society in which they take place.

In A Love Discovered, Tracie takes several tragic circumstances and melds them into the whole cloth of the story. Marybeth and Carrie are half-sisters who have been orphaned. Marybeth is determined to raise Carrie as her own, but her pastor thinks that she'd be better off giving Carrie up for adoption. He is adamant that there is a better family for Carrie and goes so far as to get the local judge involved in the situation. Edward is the widowed husband of Marybeth's best friend and offers her the protection of his name and his home for Marybeth and Carrie. He was about to move to Cheyenne, Wyoming, for a job opportunity in law enforcement working with his former commanding officer in the War Between the States. Edward offers Marybeth a marriage of convenience and to take her with him to Cheyenne the very next day. His brother-n-law will see to selling Marybeth's house and forwarding the money to her after it is sold.

Once they get to Cheyenne, they find a lawless town and no real acceptable place to live. They end up spending the winter in a tent. Edward stays firm in his stance that theirs be a marriage in name only while Marybeth finds herself falling in love, but the truth of the matter is that he is falling in love with her as well. He just can't find it within himself to love her completely because his first wife died in childbirth and he's afraid the same thing will happen to Marybeth.

For the most part this is a great book, Tracie knows her craft and plies it well. My only criticism is that the ending seemed too abrupt. It's not a satisfying ending and leaves the reader wishing for more. It felt as if the author needed a tidy way to end the story and just quit writing. For that reason, I'll give this book four stars.

Bethany House Publishing provided the copy I read for this review. All opinions expressed are solely my own.

“She was married to a man, but wasn’t a wife. She cared for a child, but wasn’t a mother,” Marybeth realizes in Tracie Peterson’s novel, A Love Discovered.

~ What ~
The first book in The Heart of Cheyenne series, this three-hundred-and-four-page paperback targets those interested in a historical romance about a young couple trying to find their way in their marriage while living in the wild west. With no profanity, topics involving illness, physical abuse, murder, and death may not be appropriate for immature readers. The ending has a teaser of the next book in the series, the author’s biography, and advertisements.

Set in 1867, twenty-year-old Marybeth is at a loss when her father dies and she promised to raise her two-year-old half-sister, especially when the local pastor wants her to give up the child. Yet her dear friend, Edward, who has lost his wife and son, devises a unique solution to marry only for convenience, benefiting both of them. When they move to rural Cheyenne, Wyoming, the two must rely on God and each other to get over their fears.

~ Why ~
Living in the American frontier during the building of the railroad had its many challenges, and this book covers the lawlessness and fear as well as friendship and trust in others. I love that the author includes Bible verses, prayers, and that eternal salvation does not involve works. The growing love between the struggling protagonists is well written.

REPORT THIS AD
~ Why Not ~
Those who do not have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ may not like this story of learning to trust God while dealing with fear and anger. Others may not care for the repetition sometimes found in the story. The story is predictable.

~ Wish ~
Since this is a series, it may be helpful to include a map of Cheyenne and a list of characters.

~ Want ~
If you like a historical romance about the expansion of Cheyenne while two people learn to shed their fear and anger and join in a wholesome marriage, this is a great start.

Thanks to Bethany House and Interviews & Reviews for this complimentary book. I am under no obligation to give a positive review.

I'm always so excited to read a new Tracie Peterson book. This is the start of a new series (The Heart of Cheyenne).
Marybeth Kruger is convinced she can care for her stepsister after her father's death, she has been left her father's house but not much money. The church is not so sure. I'll admit I didn't like the minister who stuck his nose in her business. Her best friend is a widowed man, Edward Vogel. Their marriage is a marriage of convenience, she'll get to keep her stepsister and he'll become a family man.
They move to Cheyenne, it's pretty lawless right now but this railroad town is looking to establish itself with law and order. Edward is a law enforcer and now a family man. This marriage of convenience will work for them both.
I enjoyed reading Marybeth's thoughts on being a young mother to her sister, the only one she remembers as her mother died at her birth. We also get Edward's thoughts on the danger in lawless Cheyenne as he tries to control the men who think they're above the law.
Edward and Marybeth both want this marriage to stay strong and work out but are afraid to let their true feelings show for one reason or another.
Carrie, the young girl is so sweet, smart and polite. I enjoyed her character a lot.
You can see how the characters in Cheyenne are trying so hard to just raise a family and have a normal family life and so many obstacles in their way. The emotions as you're reading the characters are experiencing become your own. I just wanted the best for these characters and wanted to see them succeed despite so many things against them. So realistic, I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more in this series.

Special note: I was given an Advanced Reader's Copy in exchange for this review.

This was a great book to read and it did not take me long to complete. I started and finished in the same day!

Marybeth handles tough situations with grace, dignity, faith, and prayer. It's no wonder that Edward married her even though it's really a marriage of convenience. Every person should strive to find a spouse with Marybeth's qualities.

Independence/Evansville, Indiana sounds like a nice place to live, but I certainly would not like the preacher there! He sounds incredibly difficult!

The challenges they face out west appear realistic. Cheyenne is a town of rowdy drunks, gamblers, and not-so-godly people. Edward's job as a lawmen puts him in danger every day because not everyone respects the law. Some prefer to "take the law into their own hands." Sometimes you face idiots like Emory and his brother who do whatever they want with no respect for authority.

Over time, the marriage of convenience opens up opportunities to become a marriage of love, trust, and everything that comes with it. But Edward just isn't ready for that. The past leaves him feeling guilty and he just doesn't want to turn it over to God.

All in all, this is a fine story. My chief complaint is that there is no separation when changing points of view. Through out this book, I have seen a sudden "jump" from Marybeth's POV to Edward's POV to the criminals' POV. I really hope someone on the publishing team fixed that before public release.

A Love Discovered by Tracie Peterson was a hard book to put down. This "marriage of convenience" story drew me right in and had me stomping mad that a woman would have to take such drastic measures to keep a baby she loves.

Marybeth Kruger is in danger of losing her two-year-old stepsister, whom she has raised from birth, all because of an interfering pastor who thinks he knows what's best for the child. I'm so glad I was not born before women had rights because I would have bopped that arrogant, self-righteous preacher right in the nose!

When he accosts her at the funeral of her father and comes to her home with a judge who threatens to take the child away from her (without even bothering to see how she is loved and cared for), Marybeth immediately says yes to Edward Vogel when he proposes a marriage of convenience.

They get out of Dodge quickly and trade one nightmare for another. The very rough and wild town of Cheyenne. With very little money, they try to find a way to coexist without truly being husband and wife. But, as with all marriages of convenience stories, they both fall in love with each other. Unfortunately, Edward is letting fear rule his life, and it will take a huge leap of faith in God to help him truly love again.

I loved seeing both characters grow in their faith in God as well as their love for each other, despite all the setbacks they had. If you like marriage of convenience stories, you will probably enjoy A Love Discovered.

Set in the wild frontier, Tracie Peterson will have the hearts of readers swooning before turning the last page.

Edward Vogel gets the opportunity of a lifetime when he is invited by a friend to help establish the new town of Cheyenne. He isn’t sure about heading out west, but when he gets the opportunity to leave behind painful memories, he thinks it might be for the best. He asks his friend Marybeth to marry him and after the death of her father, marriage might be the only way for Marybeth to keep her young sister with her. Being thrown together in marriage and now in a new town they find more than their hearts in danger of being hurt.

An unexpected love was a good read but not great. I was expecting a little more with this one and felt it fell short of my expectations. I am thankful for good, clean Christian fiction and this one was good and clean but not memorable. It had all the elements of a good historical romance, and I enjoyed the story of Edward and Marybeth as they moved west. Fans of Petersons books will enjoy this one and if you haven’t read Peterson’s work before this is a good one to start with as it is the first in a new series. I do see good potential for the rest of the series and will likely be reading them when they become available.

A LOVE DISCOVERED (THE HEART OF CHEYENNE)
by Tracie Peterson

Marybeth Kruger's beloved Papa has just passed away. Marybeth has responsibility for her darling baby sister Carrie. So called "well-meaning" meddlers are trying to take her sister away from her. To split them apart, and maybe forever. Marybeth can't bear to lose another family member.

Marybeth's best friend Edward Vogel has the promise of a job in Cheyenne, Dakota Territory. He hopes that when he leaves Indiana he will leave behind the memories of his lovely wife and son who perished.

Edward has been told that married men with families are needed to grow the town of Cheyenne. He offers up a marriage of convenience to Marybeth, to save both her and Carrie.

This is a nice story, it has Christian principles without being pushy. Reminding us of the blessings that we have in our lives that need to be appreciated, and to watch out for meddlers who stick their noses in where they don't belong.

Highly recommend.

Thank you to Bethany House Publishers for this ARC and gifted book of A Love Discovered by Tracie Peterson. All opinions are my own.

This was my first Tracie Peterson book, and I wasn’t sure what to expect since I know she’s a popular Christian historical fiction author.

I loved how she weaved Christian faith elements throughout the story naturally. It didn’t feel preachy, and I loved seeing the characters grow in their faith.

Another aspect I loved was the friendships formed throughout the story. These characters experienced so many difficult circumstances, so it was nice to see them come together to encourage and be there for one another.

The relationship between the two main characters was beautiful, and I love how they learned to communicate with each other and build each other up. It was nice to get both of their perspectives in the story as well as a third point of view from some side characters.

I do feel like the pacing was a bit slow at times, but then it was a lot faster near the end. One of the most unsatisfying things about the story was the ending. I can see how some readers will really like it, but that ending hurt me and felt unnecessary.

Overall, I would recommend this story to those who love slow burn historical fiction stories with strong faith elements.

A Love Discovered by Tracie Peterson
Right after the death of Marybeth's father, the local pastor and a judge threaten to take Marybeth's baby sister away from her because she wouldn't be able to provide for her. A wealthy couple wanted to adopt the child, but 20-year - old Marybeth was the only mother little 21-month-old Carrie had ever known. Her very good friend, Edward Vogel, who is the widow of her best friend, had a solution. He offered to marry her in name only. Immediately following the marriage, they left for Edward's new job a deputy Marshall in Cheyenne, Wyoming. To avoid spoilers, I'll stop the description there.

It was a very interesting story with happy times and some very sad times. Cheyenne was a wild town at that time.. I liked learning about the practical side of living in the Dakota Territory in the late 1860s.

Marybeth, Edward, Fred, Eve, Carrie and Melody were the main characters and were well-fleshed out and very likeable.
There were only two things II did not like about the story was that the author had not researched speech and language development of babies and toddlers. Sometimes Carrie could pronounce certain letters and sometimes not, Also the ending was a little abrupt.

I was given an ARC copy of the book by NetGalley, The opinions are entirely my own. I do recommend A Love Discovered

LOVE DISCOVERED by TRACIE PETERSON is the frst novel in The Heart of Cheyenne series. It is a most enjoyable read and I cannot wait for the next book in the series!
The story starts in 1867 in Independence, Indiana, with a marriage of convenience between two very good friends, Marybeth Kruger, who is afraid that, as an unmarried woman with no income, she will lose Carrie, her precious little sister, and:lawman Edward Vogel, who has been invited by his mentor and best friend to move to Cheyenne to join him in trying to keep the peace in that wild railroad town. In order to take up this appointment, Edward needs a wife. All goes reasonably well, in spite of the danger of living in this lawless place, until they start having feelings for each other……
It is a story about friendship, unselfish love, and overcoming fear and anger by putting one’s faith in God. The characters are unforgettable and their emotions are beautifully potrayed. The Christian message is strong and the title is very apt.
I found A Love Discovered both exciting and inspirational, and cannot recommend the book highly enough.
I was given a free copy of the book by NetGalley from Bethany House Publishers. The opinions in this review are completely my own

Netgalley and Bethany House Publishers have provided me with a copy of A Love Discovered for review:

Even in the most unforgiving frontiers, the heart finds its way.

A friend invites Edward Vogel to trek west and establish Cheyenne after his wife and son died, and he is ready to leave behind the haunting memories of their deaths. The only problem is the corrupt new railroad town wants men who can establish law and order, so Edward proposes marriage to his friend Marybeth in desperation.

Her father's death leaves Marybeth Kruger with no means of supporting her two-year-old half sister. In order to escape both their troubles, she cannot refuse Edward Vogel's offer of a marriage of convenience, the widower husband of her best friend.

It's dangerous to live in Cheyenne, but is this arrangement enough to rescue Edward and Marybeth from their pasts? Will life with each other put their hearts--and their lives--in greater danger?

I give A Love Discovered five out of five stars!

Happy Reading!

If you like Christian romance stories - especially historical ones set in the west that include marriages of convenience and friends to lovers tropes, you may really like this one. This story centers around Marybeth who has just lost her father and desperately wants to keep her very much younger sister, since Marybeth is the only real mother her little sister has ever known, but there are those who want to take the little girl away from Marybeth and give her to another family to raise. Her friend’s widower, Edward, hasn’t gotten over losing his wife and child during childbirth, but he wants Marybeth to be able to keep her little sister and he also wants to move west, away from all of his difficult memories. The town is really looking for a family man to fill the job he wants as a lawman, so… the friends join forces, get married (in name only), and head west where the Union Pacific railroad is planning to go through Cheyenne. Will real love follow? And will Edward overcome his fears of losing another wife? What about the struggles and dangers of living in a new, untamed western town? The faith element is very strong in this novel and remind us all to trust God.

A Love Discovered, by Tracie Peterson, is the first book in the Heart of Cheyenne series. Marybeth’s father has past away leaving her and a very young daughter. The local minister is trying to take the little girl away from Marybeth. Meanwhile Edward’s friend has offered him a job thinking Edward was a married family man. Marybeth and Edward have both suffered great lost and decide to marry in name only.

This is a very well written, easy to read and imagine story that caught my attention from the very beginning and held it to the end. This story shows the depth of their friendship and commitment to each other. I especially enjoyed how realistic this book in with the feelings the women have of living in such a city, where women are scarce and it isn’t safe for them to be out by themselves. I enjoyed how strong the women are and how they watch out for and help each other. This is such and enjoyable story that is easy to get lost in.

I voluntarily received a complimentary copy of this book, this is my honest review.

I am really struggling between a 3 or 4 star rating for my review.

I LOVE Tracie Peterson and devoured this book in just a few hours. I was so invested in all of the characters and as always, Tracie's writing drew me completely into the story. I was all in and fully devoted until the end. Not only did I feel like it was a EXTREME cop out on an ending, we spent the WHOLE book building towards something for it to fizzle out at the end. There was no huge resolution, no epilogue, no follow up. I felt very let down at the end for all the hope I built up for these 2 and this group of friends. I actually said out loud "that's IT?"

Some of my favorite Christian fiction books have been written by Tracie and I WANT to give the book 4 stars for everything up to the last 2 or 3 chapters but... they ending really ruined it for me. Especially when I have other works to compare it to :(

Thank you to NetGalley and Bethany House for the e-ARC in exchange for my honest review

A Love Discovered by Tracie Peterson is a story about friendship, unselfish love, and overcoming fears and anger by putting one’s faith in God.

In this sweet marriage of convenience story set in the old west town of Cheyenne. Marybeth Kruger, who after the death of her father enters into a marriage of convenience with Edward Vogel, who is the widower of her best friend in order to keep custody of her little sister and in return helps him as his new job requires married men with families.

Life is not easy and both Edward and Marybeth putting aside their fears learn how to rely on each other and trust in God through the good times and bad.

Tracie Peterson is one of my favorite authors and as usual this story did not disappoint. I would highly recommend this story to those who love slow burn historical fiction with strong faith elements.

I am looking forward to reading the second book in this series.

When life doesn't make sense. When God doesn't provide in logical ways. When people die.
When fear becomes a constant, paralyzing companion.

This book takes place in Cheyenne, Wyoming, just a few years after the Civil War had ended. The great transcontinental railway was being built as fast as workers could accomplish it. Winter hits by the time workers get to Cheyenne, so workers are waiting until spring. Into this seemingly lawless setting, Edward brings his new bride, Marybeth, and her baby sister, Carrie. Edward is fighting his battle with God, questioning God's love and care. Questioning even his own existence.

Tracie Peterson tackles the big questions in this wonderful story of love, forgiveness and redemption. Highly recommend and cannot wait for the next installment of this series!

I’m a sucker for wild west romances, and was thrilled to be given an ARC for this. The plot is a pretty common one found in western romances, the marriage of convenience, and also happens to be a favourite of mine.

Here we see the MMC and the FMC enter into a marriage of convenience, for her it means security for her and her orphaned baby sister, and for him it means the chance to accept a job in Cheyenne.

We are shown the untamed Cheyenne, where vigilantes hand out justice and everyone carries a gun. The MMC and FMC must learn to rely on each other and to put their fears aside to trust in God.

I shall keep an eye out for more by this author.

Thank you to NetGalley for a copy of this ARC in return for my honest review.

I really loved this book, it was answers to prayer that Marybeth and Edward find themselves married, if just in name! It was a sad journey to make it happen, but then they start a new life in the West, again a journey to get there, we sure take a lot for granted!

Can't imagine making my home in a tent in the middle of winter, but this young couple with their two year old do so! Cheyenne is such a lawless town as the railroad comes through, some people here are just plain evil.

We see the struggles here, and the faith of the community, that things will get better, and more affordable!

Now I can't wait for for the next book in this series!

I received this book through Net Galley and the Publisher Bethany House, and was not required to give a positive review.
