As a longtime watcher I knew I had to have this cookbook. Boy am I glad it exists! Great read and filled with so many amazing recipes. I’ve already made the Animal Style Mac ‘n Cheese (even better than I imagined) and Gatorade muffins (a learning moment). Can’t wait to try many more!!

If you’ve never sat down and read a cookbook cover to cover like a novel, might I suggest starting here? Josh Scherer is as talented with the pen as he is with the spatula, making this a highly entertaining, informative, inspiring read. Can’t wait to try some of the recipes out myself.

Absolutely logging this because it reads like more than a cookbook and I read it cover to cover. A fun read for mythical beasts everywhere :)

Not only is the one of the only (if not THE only) cookbooks of which I would like to try every single recipe, but it is SUCH an entertaining read cover to cover. Josh writes in exactly the same way he speaks, which for those of you that don't watch GMM or Mythical Kitchen, is over-caffeinated, WAY too intelligent, and so full of humor you'll be laughing out loud simply reading some of the ingredient lists. I would even go so far as to say that even if you're not interested in all (or any) of the recipes, this is a great humor read if you need a little pick-me-up.

I would also LOVE to note that as someone who is two years in to healing a 15-year-long ED, this book was unexpectedly and remarkably healing. Right from the get-go in the book's introduction, Josh and company make it clear that the focus of their recipes is to making eating FUN and accessible. There are zero food judgements and no references to wellness culture or trends. Only guilt-free delicious food and experiments.

When I finished reading this cookbook (which feels like a weird thing to say about a genre I would normally just flip through, but that's exactly what I did; I read it), I was left with a sense of excitement and eagerness about food that I don't often feel. Thank you Mythical Chef Josh and the Kitcheneers!

So cool!

Chicken and Waffles Potpie
pgs. 136-138

This recipe is so freaking good. I decreased a little of the butter. It calls for six tablespoons, but I only ended up using four. Also, definitely use regular syrup for inside the recipe. I use sugar free maple syrup on top but inside the potpie, the sugary goodness of maple syrup is definitely elite.
I had trouble keeping the milk/flour/butter mixture from getting lumpy but that's my fault, not the recipe's!

Baconana Split
pgs. 118-119

Making this was purely on impulse. It was okay, but definitely underwhelming. It was cool making the caramel; I've never done that before! I think it needed a little salt sprinkled on top to cut through the sweetness. I might make this again, probably not for myself, but if a friend wanted to try it, I'd totally be down for that.

I enjoyed flipping through this cookbook during my shift at work as a bookseller. The recipe intros are silly and conversational and the pictures are stunning. I am looking forward to making a hotdog sandwich!

Not good for people who are lactose intolerant. Nearly all of the recipes revolve around dairy. Also not great if you aren’t a fan of spicy food. Very few pictures of the recipes. The recipes are written with humour, which is fun though.

This was a seriously entertaining cookbook. I sat down and read it cover to cover with my feet kicking and giggling. Moreover, I’m genuinely excited to try some of these recipes.

Even if you use none of the recipes included in this book, it's an enjoyable read. There is also a lot of good, serious, advice included.

Very entertaining! I doubt I'll ever make any of the recipes (though the pizza muffuletta looks awesome), but reading it all the way through was a wild ride.
