really liked it
bookshelves: historical, 2016

I love it when historical fiction manages to be both informative about a time and place I knew nothing about, and emotionally crushing. Oh, okay, that may be a bit dramatic - it's not that much of a depressing book. But still, Rachel's story made me cry :(

Nikki Glad to hear you liked this one, I've had it on my shelves for far too many years. I've been trying to read long-time-owned books so maybe I'll move this one up. I only cry about animals though...so I probably won't have that reaction. ;)

message 2: by Rachel (new) - added it

Rachel A. Would you say this is a book that takes place over a character's lifespan? Looking for something that fits that challenge prompt, and this one has been mentioned a few times. Looks pretty good, but I wanted to be sure before I choose it.

rye I definitely agree with you so far, and I'm not even done with the book! :(

Debbie W. I agree! The writing was so poignant that at times I cried as well! Also, it is a great history lesson!
